We would like to pay tribute to Jasmine Jackson-Lloyd (1997-2026) who is being laid to rest today. Originally from Exeter, Jasmine appeared in our 2019 gala show at The Grange with DOLBADARN FILM HORSES. Jasmine made a huge impression on the audience and our whole team, an incredibly vivacious, powerful and talented young lady. As a stunt rider, aerialist, climbing instructor, divemaster, kick-boxer, fire performer, model and all round superstar and warrior girl, Jasmine was certainly one of those who burned very very bright for too short a time. We send our prayers and condolences to all friends and family today and beyond.

Entries for Royal Cornwall Show close on the 20th April. With three adult dedicated Iberian classes available (in hand, English ridden and a Parade plus a youngstock class all in the main ring on Friday 6th June, this is an opportunity like no other to show off your Iberians at one of the biggest shows in the UK. The Lusitanos and PREs have been consistently successful in the overall World Breeds Section Championship over the past 12 years and the in hand champion can also go forward for a HOYS qualifier. Please note that a 45 minute official break has been added between the English ridden and Parade, the Royal Cornwall teams love these spectacular horses and are always so accommodating. We absolutely loved our two years of main arena demos at this prestigious event promoting the Festival. Please support the classes and good luck to everyone competing

Legendary Oscar winning actor Robert Duvall was a keen equestrian and a big fan of the Spanish horse. He described his horse Don Manuel (Manu or Monito) as "a beloved, uniquely intelligent member of the family with a big personality" describing him as like a "big dog" - definitely something we can all relate to. In 2012 Manu and Robert were both training with famous horseman Jesus Morales. An authentic horseman, over the years Robert rode in many films and wrote and directed "Wild Horses". For True Grit he trained daily in the saddle for two years to secure the role. Robert was especially admired for the role of Augustus McRae in the TV series “Lonesome Dove.” What a wonderful life and inspiration he has been for us all

Hill Pony Resources are need of help, like everyone in the South West they are struggling with the weather. This fantastic charity do so much for the Dartmoor Hill ponies, we were very happy for them to be part of the Plaza area. If you can spare them something please do

*Help Needed*

I have been trying to make a plan of what we can do to help the situation :

🐴 Needed urgently for the comfort of the ponies and helpers are Mudcontrol mats for both sites. (They are £8.50 each)

🐴 A yard with land to rent (or just a field with a shelter) for temporary use (so we can rest our field) (limited funds available) (Callington or nearby)

🐴 A short or long term temporary Foster home for one or more of ponies would really help us !

🐴 Adoption would be even better !

🐴 Donations towards Hay and bedding so we can utilise our stables until things get better

Any suggestions welcome 🤗

I'm sorry to write this but I feel we have been transported back in time to when we made our BBC Cornwall appeal in 2023! Despite improving the site it feels like we are in the same boat ⛵ literally!!

Look at this fantastic sand sculpture by one of the artists - Rachel Clara Stubbs Pet and Wildlife Artist who joined us at the show

When I’m not painting your pets, I’m sculpting sand 😅.
This is my latest sand sculpture. It’s at zandsculpturengarderen in the Netherlands.
This year the theme is the Roman Empire. I had so much fun creating this sculpture of chariot racing horses.

It can be quite tricky trying to juggle lots of elements in one piece. You have to really consider the weight of the sand, especially for big undercuts like a horses neck.
The sand in Garderen is very strong, so I knew how far I could push it.
Creating the dust that the horses are kicking up was quite difficult until I’d felt out a technique that would look realistic, and still add some contrast to the form of the horses.

Planning a trip to Spain? You can't go wrong with Andalucía Day in Córdoba! On the 28th February, the riders from Córdoba Ecuestre celebrate their heritage leading a ride through the iconic city of Córdoba with hundreds of horses joining them
