Today, we have sharing Palestine's culture and rich cuisine along with a popular Gazan recipe, will lead a Dabke dance workshop, shares her sci-fi tale of loss & hope, The Last Palestinian Alive, .mm confronts oppression and siege through his music set The People X Land and last but certainly not least is with an electrifying DJ set that dives into the heart of Palestinian underground music.

👉 Lafi on The People X Land says:

“My people have been annihilated for 77 years for land grab based on religious and nationalist claims we neither chose nor understand. My people are simple, want to live, but have no options. The world doesn’t understand that we love and deserve life like everyone else. Outside Gaza, people can reshape their lives, we face only death in different forms, now by hunger. We want to escape this madness and rebuild what’s left of us. The sand will remain, but our souls won’t. I’m Lafi. I carry this land inside me, I seek life beyond this cage.”

🖤 In Solidarity will be at Portobello Town Hall today until 8pm, and every single penny from sales is going directly to support 12 families from Gaza who have been evacuated to Egypt.

If you’re nearby, come by, show your support, and pick up something beautiful it all goes to a vital cause.

We’ll be streaming Ruh al Ruh (The Soul of My Soul) directly from our Instagram.

Written by Gaza-based playwright Rafat Al Aydi in just one day and one night during the war in Gaza, this moving story follows a couple trying to stay grounded in the midst of chaos, one through imagination, the other through routine. Both are fighting for their lives in different ways.

💭 This is a play about war, love, survival, and the artist’s way of living.

The piece will be performed by Karen Fishwick and Dylan Read, directed by Finn den Hertog.

The Hands Up Project: Welcome to Gaza

Dancing, genies, animals, mother-in-laws and ghosts. Messages - phone calls, zoom calls, voice notes - reporting a nightmare of bombed hospitals and schools, children lying like rubble in the collapsing streets.

Performed by some of their original creators, 19 plays by children from Gaza and the West Bank, written pre-October 7th 2023, are woven into a continuous play, continually interrupted by messages from the genocide. The plays were submitted for the Hand’s Up Project’s annual remote theatre competition in 2017, 2018 or 2019, and previously published in Hands Up publications Toothbrush, Welcome to Earth and Popcorn. Continually interrupted by verbatim audio, written and video, the play portrays real life in Gaza before and after the watershed of October 7th 2023.

Welcome to Gaza is produced by the Hands Up Project, and compiled and directed by award-winning playwright, Peter Oswald.

Coming up today at 12pm is . Eman Alhaj Ali will now be joining
alhajali is a Palestinian freelance journalist, writer, translator, and storyteller who was forced to evacuate Gaza in April 2025. She is currently based in Ireland doing her Masters in Philosophy of Applied Linguistics. Her writings have appeared on a variety of international and local websites, such as the New Arab, the Electronic Intifada, Al Jazeera English, the Nation, Mondoweiss, the Middle East Eye and many others. She is a member of We Are Not Numbers, and contributed to a variety of books and anthologies, such as “We Were Seeds” and “We Are Not Numbers”. Writing and reading are her passions.
