With the biggest ever kids’ programme, the Pleasance offers children, teenagers and parents visiting the Festival Fringe a variety of top quality shows, within the inviting walls of the Pleasance and its Kidzone. Since its creation in 2009, the Pleasance Kidzone has grown from strength to strength, and six years on remains the only venue in Edinburgh to offer a completely dedicated child-friendly
area. Located on The Green, in the heart of the Courtyard, the Kidzone has taken the form of a gigantic tepee, a floating ark, and for the past few years, a giant inflatable igloo! As well as the varied and largely interactive Theatre programme, there is a cafe selling child-friendly food, a nappy change, pram shelter and weather-proof art pods where children (and adults) can engage in imaginative and fun arts and crafts activities. The Pleasance Kidzone’s mission is to introduce children of all ages to the arts in an
informal, friendly and welcoming atmosphere - building a theatrical audience for the future. It provides a fun, creative space where under 10s and their families can stop for a while and relax within the hubbub of the bustling Courtyard. It also provides invaluable support for the ever-increasing number of high quality and diverse children's theatre companies performing around the Pleasance Courtyard. It's become a regular Fringe
Festival destination for families, who return year after year because they know that their kids will be properly entertained and have a great time. There really is something for everyone!
