A free organ recital this Saturday lunchtime at 12 noon. Everyone is welcome. Entry by donation. Alistair most recently played the continuo part in our recent performance of Vivaldi's Gloria, it's great to have him back with us.

A busy weekend at New Town Church begins on Saturday when our lunchtime concert series, Music at Noon, restarts after a summer break. Alistair Warwick, Director of Music at Stirling's Holy Trinity Church gives a organ recital majoring on pieces featuring hymn tunes and Gregorian Chant, but also other pieces. Composers include:
Buxtehude, Couperin, Croft, De La Guerre, Gambarini, Hurford, and Pärt. Entry is free, by donation, and everyone is welcome.

You can be welcomed somewhere and still know that you do not really belong.

That distinction is at the heart of our next lunchtime talk, Q***r Belonging.

Drawing on my doctoral research and personal experience, I will be exploring the stories of q***r Christians, the silence which has often surrounded them, and what churches need to learn if belonging is to mean more than a warm welcome.

This is a talk about sexuality and faith, but it is also about something much wider: who is allowed to speak, whose life is fully recognised, and what it means to become an equal part of a community.
