Edinburgh’s Princes Street Becomes Alpine Ski Resort for Scottish Snowsports Festival

Edinburgh City Centre will be turned into an Alpine ski resort on Saturday 17th December when the Scottish Snowsports Festival heads to Scotland’s capital. Snowsport Scotland will transform Princes Street into the track for the Nordic Roller ski race and the iconic venue will also play host to a snow park – wit

h jumps, rails and bumps – for the freestyle competition. Elite ski and snowboard athletes from across the UK and Europe have been invited to head to Edinburgh to compete in two of the industry’s most contemporary competitions – the Edinburgh Freestyle Invitational – Rail Jam and the Nordic Cross – Super Sprint in the shadow of the city’s famous castle. A purpose built hill covered in real snow, thanks to SNOzone! Scotland and Ski-Scotland, will be erected in Princes Street for members of the public to enjoy and try out their own skills, even if it’s trying out snowsports for the first time. In addition, there will be free Nordic Ski taster sessions and DJ’s and a host of winter sports exhibitor’s will also be on site bringing a party atmosphere to the event. The Scottish Snowsports Festival is free for all spectators and all elite athletes have free entry into the competitions. Scottish Snowsports Festival event partners are Snowsport Scotland, SnoZone! Scotland, Ski-Scotland and EventScotland.
