The Massed Pipes and Drums. The Highland dancers. The fiddlers. Performers from around the world. They come together each year to create a spectacular experience, but their contribution goes far beyond the Esplanade.

Every ticket purchased helps support military, cultural and arts charities and programmes, both at home and around the world.

Every so often, we turn the camera around, away from the Esplanade and onto the crowd, because some of the best moments happen in the stands. Laughter, tears, goosebumps, the lot. This is the Tattoo you don't always see.

Rhythm is the heartbeat of dance. It brings structure, emotion and transforms movement.

To truly connect with our Highland Dancers, the pipers must meet them where they are. And sometimes, that means putting down their pipes and finding the rhythm themselves by dancing.

The Tattoo is taking a break.

After another spectacular show, it’s time for some well-deserved downtime for the Tattoo team.

Our offices will be closed from Monday 7 September and reopen at noon on Wednesday 9 September.

Massive congratulations are in order! The New Zealand Army Band were awarded the Pooley Sword, voted for by their fellow performers and presented by Tattoo chief executive Jason Barrett and Sebastian Pooley.

They brought the energy and gave the audience and Tattoo crew goosebumps, night after night. The Pooley Sword is presented each year to the act that best embodies the spirit of the Tattoo, chosen by the people who know them best.
