CAST ANNOUNCEMENT: Beth Presswood as Miss. Beth won Best Supporting Actor at Durham Drama Festival 2023!

Fave line/moment?
Honestly, the whole final third of the play is electric. The tension between Dad and Aaron is amazing - it’s my favourite bit to watch from backstage.

Would you get on with your character in real life?
Probably… unfortunately. I was a real teacher’s pet…

Why should you see Chance?
It’s a play with so much heart in it; we all care so much about our characters and you can feel it through the whole show. It’s a short watch, but packs a real punch!

CAST ANNOUNCEMENT: Ellie Mather is playing both Annabel, a kid at the PRU, and Mandy, Aaron’s social worker!

Fave line/moment?
There are too many to count, but I love doing the classroom scene!

Would you get on with your characters in real life?
No! I’m way too sensitive to cope with all of Annabel’s insults, and Mandy has way too much energy but I wouldn’t mind a digestive.

Why should you see Chance?
It’s a poignant and important story with lots of heartwarming and funny moments as well.

Fave line/moment?
When Dad and Aaron are arguing and Dad just tips Aaron over the edge which drives him to finally stand up for himself.

Would you get on with your character in real life?
I think I’d sympathise with him and his situation but absolutely not get on with him.

Why should you see Chance?
Come for the plot, characters and the hard work of the cast and crew, stay for the Harry Maguire chants.

I think I would because she’s feisty and I think we’d have a good laugh but she’s also a really loyal friend.

Why should you see Chance?
Chance captures mature and important themes whilst still remaining very down to earth and funny. It creates the right environment to bring to light the struggles of real people.

“I swear she makes sure I get the parcel with Aldi’s own crisps in it instead of Walkers”

Do you think you’d get on with your character in real life?
Yeah we’d definitely get on, though I’m not sure he’d approve of me going to uni.

Here are some photos from our run at Durham Drama Festival back in February. We can’t wait to perform ‘Chance’ again next week at Durham Fringe Festival on the 26th, 27th and 30th July at the City Theatre and then again at Edinburgh Fringe from the 21st-27th August at The Annexe in Paradise Green’s The Vault!

‘Chance’ follows Aaron, who’s been excluded from mainstream school and is being sent back to Sunnyside Pupil Referral Unit. Winner of Best New Writing, Best Show, two Best Actor awards, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Directing at Durham Drama Festival 2023.
