It’s been all fun and games at the Village Hall this week! First the boiler packed up, but thanks to some quick rallying round we were able to get blower heaters in place for moments just like this. They’ve taken the edge off the chill, and we want to say a big thank you to all our users and hirers for your patience and good spirits.

A huge thank you also goes to everyone at the Baytrees Club. Despite a power outage, they still managed to serve a hot, two-course meal to 85 older members of our community. Absolutely fabulous effort from a fabulous team.

We’re pleased to say we’re now back up and running. The Electric Board worked tirelessly—digger and all!—to locate and fix the issue. With several events booked in, we’re incredibly relieved everything is sorted.

A heartfelt thank you to our Trustees too, who gave up many hours while the work was carried out.

There is currently a 7–8 metre trench on site, which will be filled and made good this week. Please note that the play area is temporarily out of bounds for safety reasons.

Thank you all for your continued patience and support.

The Village Hall is raising funds for a new oven which hirers can use when they hire the hall.

The Baytree community club uses the oven to cook lunch for 60-80 people in the community weekly and provides a lunch on Christmas Day for those in the community who would otherwise be on their own and are intending to donate the proceeds of the sale towards the cost of the oven.

Refreshments will be available on the day.

If you would like a stall or more information please contact Kaz on 07828 700052.

Just a reminder that the Annual General Meeting for the East Preston and Kingston Village Hall is on Saturday 17th August at 10.30am. Please come along to understand what it takes to manage the village hall and what it offers to individuals and the wider community.

We are in need of more committee members to help spread the load so if you have any spare time you can offer either as a Trustee or a Friend please speak to one of the team. We are always happy to answer your questions and listen to suggestions.
