In just two weeks, the Durham Regatta returns. ⏳

One of the UK’s oldest and most iconic rowing events. The unique course features tight technical bends, bridge sprints, and fast side-by-side racing that tests every crew from start to finish.

Across the weekend, the riverbanks come alive with supporters, club colours, and one of the strongest atmospheres in British rowing. It’s a fantastic day out with the family.🔥

From school and university crews to senior club competition, it’s a true celebration of the sport.

🌟 Meet our traders! 🌟

From the delicious crispy chicken from The Street Diner to the burger and shawarma vans from DDC Event Catering, our longest standing trader, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. 🍔🌯🍗

We’re also excited to welcome new traders Didi’s Flower Box and The Ellipsis Project this year! 🌷👖

Plus, Durham Dogs and Cats Home will be hosting a tombola and giving visitors the chance to meet some of their rescue dogs looking for forever homes. 🐶

St John Ambulance will also be joining us, fundraising for the Durham Community St. John network and offering free first aid demonstrations throughout the day. ⛑️

And that’s just to name a few! We’ll have plenty more amazing traders and community groups joining us on the day! 🎉

Welcome to The Banks Group 🎉

We're delighted to share the news that The Banks Group are joining us as one of the key sponsors of this year's Regatta. As a not for profit organisation, we are extremely grateful to receive this funding which will, amongst other things, support the work of our Volunteer Hub. This dedicated Hub is a vital part of Regatta operations overseeing the activities and welfare of several hundred volunteers over the course of the Regatta weekend.

There are only 3 WEEKS TO GO until Durham Regatta returns! Here are a few Durham Regatta facts you might not know:

🏆 The regatta first began in 1834, making it one of the oldest rowing events in Britain.

🌉 The course runs right through the heart of historic Durham, passing beneath some of the city’s famous bridges and alongside Durham Cathedral.

🚣‍♂️ Thousands of rowers, coaches, supporters, and spectators visit Durham across the regatta weekend each year.

🔥 Generations of rowing clubs have competed at Durham Regatta, with some crews returning year after year as part of long-standing traditions.

We're thrilled to see that our Chairman, Michael Laing, has been awarded the British Rowing Medal of Merit. This is a well deserved award and we are truly grateful for everthing that Michael does for the regatta.

Michael first became involved in the regatta over 45 years ago as a competitor and in 2022 he took on the role as our Chairman. Michael champions the regatta at every opportunity in his varied roles across the County. We're so very proud to see Michael receive the recognition he deserves and look forward to him guiding the regatta towards our 200th anniversary.
