🏆🚘 A huge congratulations to the winners of yesterday's Durham Classic Car Show! 🚘🏆

With so many magnificent motors filling some of Durham’s most beautiful and historic locations, choosing the winners certainly wasn't an easy task – but these five fabulous vehicles really caught the judges’ eyes!

🏅 Best in Elvet Bridge: the beautiful cream 1949 MG TC

🏅 Best in Palace Green: the seriously stylish E12 BMW M535i

🏅 Best in Framwellgate Bridge: the magnificent 1977 Daimler Sovereign Coupé

🏅 Best in Market Place: the head-turning red 1986 Opel Manta GT/E

🏆 Best in Show: the absolutely stunning Mercedes-Benz 170 S Cabriolet A

Our Market Manager, James, had the very important job of presenting the awards and congratulating the proud owners of these exceptional vehicles.

A massive well done to all five winners – each award was thoroughly deserved! 👏

We would also like to thank every single owner who brought a vehicle along and helped make this year’s Durham Classic Car Show such a spectacular sight. The standard was incredible, and we loved seeing so many beautiful, unusual and much-loved vehicles displayed against Durham’s historic backdrop.

The Durham Classic Car Show is well underway, with over 100 remarkable vehicles displayed across four of the city’s most iconic locations:

📍 Durham Market Place

📍 Framwellgate Bridge
📍 Elvet Bridge

The vehicles will be on display until 4pm today, so if you're local and love motors, get yourself down to the city centre and prepare to step back through motoring history!

🚘 The countdown is almost over – tomorrow, Durham city centre will once again become a spectacular open-air showcase of motoring history! 🚘

More than 100 remarkable vehicles will be displayed across four of the city’s most iconic locations:

📍 Durham Market Place
📍 Palace Green
📍 Framwellgate Bridge
📍 Elvet Bridge

Prepare to take a journey through the decades as you explore everything from beautifully preserved vintage vehicles and nostalgic family favourites to retro classics, sleek sports cars and impressive motors from Britain and beyond.

You’ll have the opportunity to admire these magnificent machines up close, capture plenty of photographs and meet the dedicated owners who devote their time to keeping them looking fabulous and running beautifully.

You certainly don’t need to be a motoring expert to enjoy the show! Whether you’re passionate about classic cars, enjoy reminiscing about vehicles from years gone by, or are simply looking for a brilliant Bank Holiday day out, there will be plenty to see.

And, even better, the entire event is completely FREE! 🙌

🚕 Planning your journey? Belmont and Sniperley Park & Rides will be open, offering the most affordable parking option. If you would prefer to park in the city centre, you can choose from several car parks, including Prince Bishops, Walkergate, Riverwalk and The Sands multi-storeys.

Polish those cameras and prepare to step back through motoring history – we’ll see you at the starting line tomorrow! 🏁

✨ Bank holiday weekend plans sorted! ✨

We've got a jam-packed few days in store for you, starting tomorrow with the last of our Friday Summer Markets. ☀️🎪

Don't forget: in addition to all the fabulous stalls and the free kids' activity tent and face painting tomorrow, we also have the incredible Rotary North East 'One Life Initiative', WEL Medical Limited, and North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust in the Market Place, providing free, hands-on CPR and defibrillator training.

On Saturday, our regular weekly outdoor market will be back with dozens upon dozens of brilliant and talented traders selling everything from food and drink to fashion and homeware.

🛻 Then, on Bank Holiday Monday, the Durham Classic Car Show is back in town with over 100 gleaming vintage beauties, much-loved family favourites, retro icons, head-turning sports cars, and magnificent motors spread across the Market Place, Palace Green and both Elvet and Framwellgate Bridges. You can view these great vehicles between 11am and 4pm.

Of course, our wonderful Market Hall will be open on all these days (with our Bank Holiday opening hours from 10am until 4pm), so come and have a browse while you're in the city!

The countdown is officially on… just seven more sleeps until Durham city centre becomes a car lover’s paradise for the Durham Classic Car Show! 🤩

On Bank Holiday Monday, more than 100 incredible vehicles will take their places against some of Durham’s most historic and picturesque backdrops.

From gleaming vintage beauties and much-loved family favourites to retro icons, head-turning sports cars and magnificent motors from both Britain and overseas, there will be so much to discover across:

This is your chance to get a closer look at some truly special vehicles, take plenty of photographs and chat with the proud owners who keep these pieces of motoring history on the road.

📢 Classic Car Show Application Update

Thank you so much for your patience while waiting to hear about applications for this year’s Durham Classic Car Show.

We had been exploring the possibility of securing additional space, which would have allowed us to welcome even more fantastic vehicles to this year’s event. Sadly, this hasn’t been possible, so we’ll be working with our usual capacity, but we’re still looking forward to another brilliant show!

We received the final list of successful applications just a few minutes ago, and we’ll be emailing everyone who applied with an update over the next day or two.

We’re sorry this has taken a little longer than usual, but we hope you’ll understand that the delay came from our determination to make this year’s event even bigger and better. Thank you again for bearing with us - we can’t wait to welcome you to the show! 🚘

Thank you to everyone who has expressed interest in exhibiting their vehicles at this year's Classic Car Show on 31st August in Durham city centre. 🚗

We've been inundated with requests! So much so that we have had to close the Expressions of Interest form a few days earlier than advertised, as there are so many to go through.

We will review the applications over the next few weeks and get in touch with you if you are successful. We provide an update once we have contacted those who have been selected, so you know the selection process is finished.

Please do not contact anyone but ourselves, and if anyone gets in touch with you who doesn't have either an official Durham Classic Car Show or Durham Markets email address, claiming to be able to offer you trading opportunities, please just ignore and delete/block them.

Unfortunately, due to the space restrictions, we will not have the space for any traders (other than the cars that have registered and been approved to exhibit) at this event.
