Birnam Book Festival is delighted to invite the community to its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 5th of May, from 19:00 to 20:00 P.M. at the Perth Arms Hotel in Dunkeld.

Don’t miss out on this very exciting event with Best Selling Author, Elizabeth Kostova.

Elizabeth is the author of The Historian, The Swan Thieves, and The Shadow Land. She is also Dunkeld and Birnam’s Writer in Residence from our twin community of Asheville, North Carolina.

Join us on April 18th for a farewell conversation with Elizabeth and first-time reading from her new novel, Mystery Play, which will be released in October, and maybe a special guest or two.

Visit Historic Dunkeld’s website to learn all about this exciting workshop with Best Selling Author and Writer in Residence Elizabeth Kostova.

An opportunity you don’t want to miss!

Elizabeth Kostova is the author of three novels—The Historian, The Swan Thieves, and The Shadow Land—all of which involve the subject of historical research. Her work has been translated into 40 languages, and The Historian received Quill and American Bookseller Awards. It was also the first novel in American publishing history to debut at #1 on the NYT bestseller list. Her fourth novel, Mystery Play, will be published in October 2026. She reads, teaches, and lectures internationally and is co-founder of the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation for Creative Writing (www.ekf.bg). She lives in Asheville, NC—Dunkeld and Birnam’s Sister City in the U.S.—where she contributes to post-hurricane relief and serves on the board of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association.

We are delighted to announce that we are planning the 2026 Birnam Book Festival!

We are hoping to deliver our best festival yet and any support we could gratefully accept from followers and our wonderful community would stand us in the best possible stead to achieve this. 

We would love to invite you to an evening at the Birnam Reader on 26th February from 6-8pm to meet our Patrons and Committee to share a glass of fizz and discuss sponsorship opportunities.
