Slam duo Stuart & Orde return to Dundee and this time they play the whole night long. So that’s 4 whole hours of the finest underground techno.

Long time favourites of the Scotland techno scene and regulars at the legendary Reading Rooms in Dundee, Slam are a tour de force on the global techno circuit.

Their unique, 6 deck, back-to-back DJ performances have seen the duo play leading clubs & festivals across the world. They are renowned for both their experience and their powerful, contemporary sound.

The last few years have seen some of the duo’s most prolific studio output as they continue to innovate and keep things moving forward, most recently with the release of their new EP Scourge. In addition, Slam have also remixed tracks from the likes of Planetary Assault Systems, Clouds, Dax J, Damon Wild, Richie Hawtin, and Truncate, to name just a few.

Slam also host one of Techno’s most respected weekly podcasts, Slam Radio, which has now surpassed over 300 episodes. The show allows the duo to demonstrate their conviction to creating and promoting music and vibes that provide an antidote to the mainstream by inviting fellow artists from the vibrant Techno scene, from obscure names to current trailblazers.

Slam instigated Glasgow’s underground House music scene in the late 1980s, going on to be instrumental in the explosion of the UK Techno scene, and their quarter of a century of exploits have seen them travel far and wide, leaving scorch marks on the dance floor and everywhere while taking their uncompromising vision of Techno around the world.

SLAM have never been ones to rest on their musical laurels and they are constantly and consistently experimenting in the studio, working multitude of tracks and we look forward to welcoming them back to Small Town Dundee Clubland ✊

RIP Keith McIvor aka JD Twitch

Sad to hear of Keith’s passing yesterday after a short illness and thoughts are with his family and friends.

I’ve known Keith since the early 90’s Pure days and got to know him more during late 90’s and his visits to The Reading Rooms during the 00’s playing as Optimo alongside Jonnie.

When Keith started Optimo with Jonnie in late 90s I thought the music was spot on and loved Sunday trips to the Subbie and Planet Peach.

We also spoke quite a bit on the phone as you did back then and we used to discuss bands that we could possibly bring to Scotland to play Homeless Dundee one night and Optimo Glasgow the next, but we never did manage to link those bands.

It was during these chats that I found out Keith was also a huge reggae fan and also a big Associates / Billy Mackenzie fan in-fact he was one of the very few DJ’s to actually play an Associates track at the small town club, I remember it like yesterday, it was October 2012 same night this photo was taken at The Reading Rooms by 📸 and the Optimo early doors warm up was in full flow.

RIP Keith, thank you for the memories and the music. You were one of the good guys and will be missed big time ✊
