📢 DUNDEE DEMANDS BETTER 🚨

We deserve warm homes, clean streets, fair wages, and lives worth living. While those at the top tell us to “tighten our belts”, it’s our communities carrying the cost. But we don’t have to accept this.

Dundee Trades Union Council, alongside Speak Oot, are launching Dundee Demands Better — a new campaign bringing people together across the city to fight for the change our communities deserve.

📍Join us at our founding meeting on Thursday 17 September, 6pm, at Boomerang Community Centre. Share your experiences, put forward your ideas for change — and help shape how we make it happen.

Management’s decisions are stripping back courses, eroding campus support services, and decimating a core institution of our city.

With the deeply worrying news coming from Dundee University, it is more important than ever that we stand together to stop these cuts.

No to compulsory redundancies. And no to jobs simply disappearing and workloads being pushed onto fewer people.

Dundee University is its staff and students. We cannot allow them to pay the price for this crisis.

📢 Unions at the University of Dundee warn that more than 1,000 staff will have been driven out once this redundancy round is done.

This is a deliberate act of vandalism against our city and one of its key institutions — a choice to hollow out our university, its workforce, and its future.

📢 Speak Oot — First Ever Conference Wrapped

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us at the first ever Speak Oot Conference this past weekend.

Together, we dug into the key issues facing our city — from community wellbeing to democratic participation — and set out the conversations and actions Dundee needs to push forward.

Huge appreciation to our guest speakers on the day: Maggie Chapman, Cllr Siobhan Tolland, Cllr Dorothy McHugh, Jenny Douglas & Neica McLorinan from Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) and Ceilidh from Living Rent Dundee

The key theme leaving the conference was clear: Dundee Demands Better. And it’s on all of us to carry that message, build momentum, and keep speaking oot until the city gets the change it so desperately needs.
