BRCA Scottish Off Road Series SORS

BRCA Scottish Off Road Series SORS The BRCA Scottish Off-Road Series is a series of RC car races in Scotland as a regional feeder to the BRCA National Series. Who organises the SORS series?

This is organised by the Scottish 10th Off Road BRCA Drivers Rep together with the affiliated Scottish clubs. The Scottish BRCA regional series is run in line with ALL other regional series in the UK. The BRCA Scottish 10th Off Road Regional Rep is responsible to organise the regional series along with a club rep from every club. Each club has one vote on any issues that need to be decided, so tha

t all clubs have equal say. The BRCA Scottish 10th Off Road Regional Rep only has casting vote in the case of a tie. Clubs are encouraged to work together to deliver the best series possible for the racers. How do I book in and find more information? Entries are opened 11th May @ 7pm and you can book in for the whole series or round by round. Payment is required at the time of booking. Entry fees are shown on the booking site and Juniors are FREE! U16's will be required to use the code 'juniorscotland' at the checkout at time of booking to get the junior discount, the same as other regionals and nationals . See the booking site for more details. How else can I contact you? You can reach us at: [email protected]

Happy Friday everyone! In just two weeks we will be on astroturf again for BRCA SORS 2026 Round 3 - Glasgow , at their track in Calderglen Country Park.

Entry is via the BRCA website, so click on the link below to book in!
*Under 16s are FREE again this year!*

Race entry £10 per car, cheaper than any of the other BRCA Regional Series in the UK. Normal booking will close at 10pm on the Wednesday before the event, same as last year, but we've also implemented a late booking option which is available up until 10pm on the Friday before the event for an extra £5 per car. If you miss it, you're welcome to come and watch regardless.

The tyre rule will be the same as last year, which is that the rear tyres are Schumacher Mezzos of any compound and Ballistic Buggy Mini Spikes of any compound. Their new astro is extremely grippy and proved during a rainstorm last year that it is an extremely resilient surface, so Mezzos will be order of the day.

Remember that this is a BRCA sanctioned race series, run by Scotland's BRCA affiliated clubs. You will benefit from a wealth of experience built up over fifty years of RC car racing in the UK. SORS is also a feeder series for the BRCA Nationals where some of our better drivers also compete and this year is mostly held in the North of England so is a unique opportunity to race at the biggest events of the year!

See you all trackside! IP

Hey racers! I hope you've all recovered from an excellent day of racing on Sunday! Stonehaven put on an excellent event as always and the feedback I've received has all been positive.

Unfortunately, despite great racing, there were two incidents that we need to highlight and also remind everyone of the British Radio Car Association policy of Race With Respect. It is not lip service to a minor issue, but is there to provide a safe and friendly environment, and ensure fair racing for everyone. We also need to remember that we have several junior racers and that two of this year's venues take place in public parks, so our conduct needs to be of an acceptable standard, even when frustration sets in.

Before one of the Finals there was an instance of pushing and shoving whilst the drivers were taking their position and this is completely unacceptable. It is convention for a person with a higher grid position to have priority when choosing their place on the rostrum, but this does not entitle them to be rude to other racers. It is also important that we do not allow ourselves to be provoked by the poor behaviour of others.

For the removal of doubt: at future rounds, drivers in finals will go onto the rostrum in grid order so that racers get their preferred position. This is the same principle that entitles them to a better position on the starting grid. The racers are expected to organise this between themselves without being shepherded by a race official.

Secondly, frustration clearly got to a couple of people during the racing and there were some raised voices and criticism of refereeing. The rostrum is supposed to be a quiet place to ensure that racers can concentrate on their race so noise should be kept to a minimum. Racers should also be mindful that there are children present and often members of the public spectating these events.

Without making excuses for myself or the other referees, the job of refereeing is also not easy, especially on a busy track during a final. However we are aware that this needs to improve and penalties better enforced where they apply. I invite anyone who is critical of the referees to volunteer their time during an event to help.

Hopefully we can put these things behind us and help the series grow to be the success it deserves to be. Constructive criticism is always welcome because it is how we improve our events. If you need further confirmation of the rules, please check out the SORS racers guide which is available on the BRCA website.

Wow! What a day BRCA SORS 2026 Round 2 - Stonehaven was! We had a great turnout, the weather was spot on and the racing was excellent for the most part. Even the B final 4wd avoided its standard mass pile up on the first corner!

Thanks to Stonehaven and District Radio Car Club (SDRCC) for putting on such an excellent event.
