Next Saturday’s evening’s concert in the Grand Hall of the Dorking Halls is the last event in the venue before it shuts for the Summer.
Two spectacular works!
Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet featuring Julian Bliss.
Schubert’s Octet with a star studded group of Julian’s friends- all of whom play in the Hallé Orchestra or Manchester Collective.
An event NOT to be missed!!!

This exciting quartet with strong links to Dorking is making a huge impact nationally and internationally ( e.g. the “Proms”). They are visiting the Dorking Concertgoers’ Society three times this year.
The society is a charity, staffed by a small group of volunteers, that promotes concerts by internationally acclaimed artists in the Dorking Halls and St Martin’s Church.

The concert by the Carducci Quartet on Sunday ( 1/3/2026) was beyond superb!!!
Rebecca Clarke’s “Poème” was a good concert opener. (Radio 3 is heartily, although belatedly, to be thanked for introducing “Jo Public” to Rebecca Clarke, Amy Beach, Mel Bonis, Roxana Panufnik, Cecilia McDowall and a whole host of other brilliant female composers.)
Mozart’s “Dissonance” Quartet sparkled with joyful intensity.
However- The performance of Shostakovitch ‘s 2nd Quartet raised an excellent concert to a whole new level- truly wonderful!
The only bad thing was the number of empty seats in the Martineau Hall. If we want to ensure that performances of this standard continue to take place in Dorking we HAVE to raise our ticket selling game.
Come on Dorking!!
The Carducci are with us twice more
Sun.15 March and Sat. 18 April ( with Julian Bliss- Clarinet.)
Not to be missed and at £25 per ticket a real bargain compared to London prices.

An absolutely wonderful concert by the English Chamber Orchestra in the Dorking Halls tonight ( Saturday 7th Feb) sponsored by the Dorking Concertgoers’ Society. The appreciative audience was far smaller than the concert deserved!!
