MRS SHIRLEY CORK
Honorary Secretary 2007 – 2025
Shirley has been Honorary Secretary of our meeting for nearly 20 years; she retired at our last AGM but thankfully continues serving on our committee. Shirley has made a huge contribution to the success of the Axe for Point- to-Point being a hard-working, diligent, and friendly Secretary with a great knowledge of racing (both the people and the horses). Well-known in the wider Point-to-Point community as an owner and former trainer of horses with her late husband, John. They farmed just up the road from Stafford Cross at Elverway Farm and have long been great supporters of the Axe Vale Hunt. The committee wish to record our most sincere thanks to Shirley for all that she has done over so many years. A presentation was made between races last Sunday (see photograph below) Rebekah Westlake has joined us our new Honorary Secretary and benefited from an excellent handover. Shirley – thank you again and hopefully you enjoyed some racing and judging the best turned out, having escaped from the Secretary’s Tent! MRW
