Devizes Festival Of Winter Ales

Devizes Festival Of Winter Ales The Festival of Winter Ales is a friendly gathering of ale and pie fans, with some great music and DOCA style cabaret thrown in for good measure.

The event is a valuable fund-raiser for our summer events which are all free to attend. This delicious celebration of bespoke, warming winter ales and ciders is a fundraising event for DOCA. The Devizes Festival of Winter Ales is a fundraising event to help meet costs of DOCA's free annual programme of outstanding outdoor arts events and activities, including the Devizes International Street Festi

val, Devizes Carnival and the Christmas Lantern Parade. Our artistic programme is free to enjoy but costs thousands of pounds to produce. Please support us and come and enjoy this unique Winter Ale Festival which features live music and Street Festival style entertainment!

Only a few days to go now, and the beer and cider lists are complete. Today we feature three of the Pale Ales you can expect to see:

Burnt Mill – Citra Sands

A simple malt bill of extra pale, wheat and caramalt provides a soft, clean palate for the Citra and Lemondrop hops to shine, making for a very citrus-forward, easy drinking beer. 4.6% Pale

Howling Hops - Blankets

A soft and fluffy creation with Citra, Columbus and Cascade working in sheer suppable balance. Pure, silky comfort. 4.2% Pale

Stealth – Agent Nectaron

Our first brew with this beautiful NZ hop and it's a banger. Lovely soft tones of peach, mango and guava combined with a lovely mouthfeel to make this a secret agent of a beer. Naturally hazy. 4.7% Pale

But of course we've plenty more, including several dark ales, stouts and porters. With over 20 beers and ciders, we think we've got something to suit all tastes. So why not come along and sample something a bit different from your usual tipple?

There's live acoustic music, a cabaret act, hot pies and snacks, soft drinks, and a raffle. What's not to like?

Tickets available online, or in person from Devizes Books or The British Lion.

More beers to announce for the festival on 17th February. Today it's a Mild & Bitter sort of day:

Good Chemistry – Extra Special Bitter

A long and hard look at a timeless recipe – it’s rich and dark, nutty and complex. Raise a glass to this classic style, celebrate tradition in an ever-evolving landscape. Made with 100% British malt and hops, and suitable for vegans. 5.6% Bitter

Left Handed Giant – Dark Mild

Notes of English hedgerow berries, smooth caramel and lightly roasted malt, with a rich mahogany hue. 4.0% Mild

Lots more beers and ciders still to share with you over the next few days. It's starting to look like a great list.

Still time to get your tickets online, or in person at Devizes Books or The British Lion.

So far we've been telling you about some of the beers we have from the dark side, but here are a couple of cracking pale ales.

First off from Two By Two we'll have Byker Pale, which uses Centennial and Mosaic hops, providing a tropical easy drinking pale ale. 4.0% Pale

And to follow that Vibrant Forest's Out Of Exile. This pale ale uses an abundance of Ekuanot and Sabro hops. Ekuanot adds fruity aromatics of lemon, lime and tropical fruits along with herbal notes. Sabro adds striking coconut character which is complemented by a fruity yeast which gives pleasant stone fruit esters. All this fruity goodness is layered upon a malt bill made with healthy amounts of wheat and oats. 4.9% Pale

If you'd like to join us in enjoying these fine ales, then get your tickets online, or in person at The British Lion or Devizes Books.
