🌳So wonderful to be supporting this project which is so local to us.

Our next batch of 75 Kington Deluxe Toilets trees have now been planted in Somerset by our partners at Reimagining the Levels (RtL). It’s been a busy planting season!

Thank you for supporting it.

RtL began tree planting in response to the devastating floods in Somerset in 2013/2014 which left farmland destroyed and homes ruined. They have since planted well over 90,000 trees whose roots help break up flood water, channeling it underground. The trees also have the welcome benefit of increasing space for wildlife and sequestering Co2.

Somerset has some of the lowest tree cover in the UK (6%), well below the national average (12%). We’re incredibly pleased to be working with RtL to boost that figure and - thanks to your donations - to have been able to fund tree and hedge planting projects at a very local level. We have been able to give Lorna in North Curry the money she needed to plant 367 hedge trees to protect her bungalow from flooding; and Michael and Sue Harries the money they needed to reforest a piece of woodland near to them that was mistakenly cleared by developers in the 1970s only to find it flooded and really needed trees. 🌳.
