🩷 Desford Scarecrow Festival Update 💗

After much debate, we’ve made the difficult decision to take a year off and not hold the Desford Scarecrow Festival this year.

We’re sure you can all appreciate just how much work goes into putting this event on. It’s all organised by a small team of volunteers, and sometimes even the most loved traditions need a little pause. So for 2026, the pink Scarecrew tops will be staying in the wardrobe!

The exciting news? 2027 marks 10 years of the Desford Scarecrow Festival 🎉
We already have some amazing ideas and can’t wait to make 2027 our best festival yet.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years — our volunteers, scarecrow builders, visitors, stall holders, entertainment, community groups, St Martins church, Desford parish council and sponsors. Your support truly means the world to us.

This decision wasn’t taken lightly, so please be kind with your comments 😃

We’ll be back — refreshed, recharged, and ready to celebrate in style!

Our wonderful village is a little quieter as we near the end of the week and it’s time for some THANK YOU’S, there are so many people that helped to make the weekend such a huge success!

- Our amazing committee who each bring their own individual strengths and ideas. You all pulled together and put on the BEST event!

- Our volunteers who helped with- setting up, the signage, marshalling, car parking, bin emptying, clearing up and ferrying items from A to B

- Our scarecrow entries- we couldn’t put on the event without you! Thank you all for your hard work!

- Our entertainment- including our resident DJ Elvis aka Tim, what a fantastic atmosphere on the church green!

- Desford Community Primary School for the beautiful Church Centre decorations 🙌🏻

- Our stall holders- thank you for coming along and supporting us. We know a lot of you had a super busy weekend with little to no breaks!

-Bosworth Academy for letting us use their parking 🚗 Desford dental care and Desford library for disabled parking
