The Tara Kinder Memorial 10K: See you tomorrow!
Our race is Tomorrow! We're looking forward to seeing you all.
Here's what you need to know:
• RACE NUMBERS AND RACE CHIPS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR COLLECTION FROM 6pm – The race HQ is situated in the main car park at Elvaston Castle DE72 3EN. At the collection point, numbers & chips will be arranged alphabetically, according to surname; so please join the appropriate queue!
• YOUR RACE CHIP IS AFFIXED TO THE BACK OF YOUR RACE NUMBER! – Your race number will be given to you, with your race chip stuck to the back. Please check your number definitely has a chip attached before you head to the start line. Without your race chip, you will not get a finishing time.
• FILL OUT THE BACK OF YOUR NUMBER! – After you've collected it; Please ensure you fill out the emergency contact and medical details on the reverse of your race number. There will be a stationary table adjacent to number collection, to help with this.
• RACE START: 7.30PM PROMPT – Please ensure you make your way to the start line, situated on the perimeter path, outside the main car park, by 7.25pm.
• THERE WILL BE NO ENTRIES ON THE NIGHT THIS YEAR – If you know anyone who is thinking of entering, please help us spread the word! We can no longer accept any transfer requests, at this late stage. Deferrals are not accepted.
• CAR PARKING CHARGES APPLY – If you're parking in the main car park, please pay using the “PayByPhone” app. This can be downloaded here. The location code to use is 810035. There are also four ticket machines in the car park that take cash or contactless payments. However, at last year’s race, these were very slow!
• PLEASE KEEP TO THE RIGHT-HAND-SIDE OF THE COURSE! – The race consists of three laps of approx 3.3KM (A map of the course can be found here). Therefore, it is highly likely a significant number of you will be lapped by the lead runners. Please keep to the right-hand-side of the course for your first two laps. Listen to the marshall's instructions and beware of the lead bike approaching from behind!
• WATER STATIONS EVERY LAP: - There will be a water station (with just plain old water!) at the end of each lap. So, effectively this will mean water will be available at 3.3K, 6.6K and the finish. The weather forecast looks like conditions will be very warm. So please consider also carrying your own water on the night.
• PLEASE KEEP MOVING ALONG THE FINISHING FUNNEL! – Once you cross the finish line, please keep moving along the funnel, to avoid any ‘backing-up’ across the finish line.
• SORRY; BUT WE REALLY DO MEAN IT WHEN WE SAY NO HEADPHONES! – The course consists of three laps. It is highly likely that many of you will be lapped by the runners at the front of the course; therefore, it is essential you are able to hear the marshal on lead bike approaching behind you. The same rationale applies in the event of an emergency vehicle requiring access to the narrow paths.
• SORRY; NO DOGS and NO BUGGIES/PUSHCHAIRS ALLOWED – The course is simply too narrow to safely allow this.
• On a lighter note…..
• RACE MOMENTO TO ALL FINISHERS: - All finishers will get a free memento. These are available to collect from race HQ after the race, on production of your race number.
• SPOT PRIZES GALORE! - Trevor Kinder has plenty of spot prizes to give away. You'll find out if you're a lucky winner when you go to collect your memento after the race.
• POST RACE PRESENTATION- Prizes will be given to the first three men and women overall, plus to winners of the individual age groups: Under 20; MV40, MV50, MV60, MV70, FV40, FV50, FV60, FV70. The presentation will take place approximately 45 minutes after the first runner has crossed the line.
• TEAS, COFFEES AND SNACKS AVAILABLE – Fire & Fizz Catering will be on hand serving up their amazing food, along with hot and cold drinks.
• SMILE! FREE RACE PHOTOS! - Mick Hall Photos will be our official photographer this year. All the photos Mick takes will be available for you to download, free of charge, thanks to The Derby Runner!
• DERBY RUNNER! - Thanks to the Derby Runner for providing the race numbers and prizes. You will notice there's also a discount voucher for Derby Runner on the reverse of your race number! The Derby Runner will not be holding a stall at this year's event. But please contact them if you'd like a specific item bringing along.
• RESULTS: Results will be posted online as soon as possible after the race has finished. Early provisional results will be posted on Tempo Events Website (Our Chip Timing provider). Final results will be posted by Monday 14th July.
• Enjoy it! - more than anything else, we put this event on each year to celebrate the life of a very special young lady and raise some much-needed funds for local causes. We hope you enjoy yourselves and we very much look forward to seeing you all on Friday evening!
