Can’t believe the fundraising day for Devons Festival Of Heroes was a year ago today ! Also cannot believe the horrific situation we were in two years ago today. Devon Air Ambulance saving my husbands life roadside and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance flying him to ITU at Southmead Hospital where he was intubated for five weeks which was when the rollercoaster started and it’s still far from over BUT we are happily enjoying a not too far away holiday in beautiful North Devon. It’s definitely a different kind of holiday mobility wise to what we used to take for granted but it’s a break away that we are loving even with the rainy weather . Lots more fights ahead with the continued battle with treatment when we get home but that is then, I’m taking the now to have this amazing break with him. The heroes who saved Al will be in our hearts forever . He’s here. Thank you so much for saving him. ❤️

Sadly, there will be no event this year. My husbands pain has deteriorated and as his full time carer, I just don’t have the energy to organise another. Please keep supporting any Devon Air Ambulance and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance events. All miracle workers and our heroes. ❤️

If anyone that has read our story as well as the many, many others that both Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Devon Air Ambulance , our heroes, that dedicate their lives continuously to saving lives would just give a donation or at the very least raise awareness of the critical work the team do , it’s worth all of us in that situation telling our story, no matter how hard it is to do. Thank you personally from me Louise McRandal , Alex, Josh and Ella and of course , the youngest child, Mr Zeb the terrier ❤️

Devons Festival of Heroes will be returning in July this year . Date to be confirmed but please keep following this page . I’m just starting to work on the event next week but hugely excited to be ! Looking forward to seeing you later this year to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and of course to say a huge thank you to all the other heroes and miracle workers that when you thank them , their response is ‘it’s their job’! No it’s so much more than a job !!!!

I’ve got some ideas to raise much more money next year for Devon Air Ambulance and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance but sponsorship dictates the size an event can be. I have a huge amount of event experience and can put it together but not without help . I’m a forever carer for my husband but want to say many more thanks to all these miracle workers. This years event was perfect but I want to go much bigger !Can everyone share this post. Let’s give these heroes support

TODAY WE MET OUR HEROES ! We used to see the Air Ambulance in the sky and say ‘oh look, there’s the air ambulance’ ,now we see it as the start of someone’s new tragic journey . Today, we had the honour of meeting my husbands heroes , Paul and Lee from the Devon Air Ambulance who saved his life on the roadside . Their expertise gave me back my husband and our kids, their father .This was organised by Chloe at Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Kate and Alisha from DAAT. Both teams were involved in his critical care. We will always cherish today in our heart forever.
Thoughts were after photos taken that Paul and Lee had to head to their briefing prior to starting their shift and then we would be able to have a cuppa . That didn’t happen because minutes after they left us, they were back in the helicopter ready to go to the next tragic scene . It was an eye opener realising how busy they are sadly so next years event will be bigger and combined with both DAAT and DSAA but how big it gets really depends on sponsorship. Let’s keep Devon’s Festival of Heroes getting so much bigger because they absolutely deserve it . DAAT treated Alex on the roadside , DSAA arrived with the aircraft crew . When you think about how many experts treating just one patient , it is very overwhelming. Let’s help them . Thank you

When Alex had his accident back in May last year, Devon Air Ambulance came by road and Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance airlifted him to Southmead Hospital. All crew at the scene were heroes/ miracle workers saving my husbands life on the roadside . Both teams are now liaising with each other to arrange for Alex and I to meet them because we want to give them a huge hug and say thank you ! Knowing how busy they are, we are overwhelmed and hugely grateful that we can say thank you to them . We will put photos up for sure . Devon’s Festival of Heroes will be returning next year and we can’t wait but bigger and better!
