Thogadh Aonghas ann am Paibil, Uibhist a Tuath agus ’s esan ogha Lachlainn MhicCuithein a chluich sa gheam ainmeil ann an 1907 eadar Sollas is Tighearraidh. Fear-uasal le làn chlaiginn de Ghàidhlig, thog Aonghas iomain nuair a thàinig e gu tìr mòr agus on uairsin tha e air cur ri iomain ann an Glaschu agus Siorrachd Dhùn Bhreatainn mar chluicheadair, mar choidse agus mar cheann-suidhe Comann Camanachd Ghlaschu Meadhan Earra-ghàidheil. Athair iomain moiteil agus manaidsear air sgioba Gàidhlig na h-Alba, leis a’ Mhòd a’ tilleadh dha na h-Eileanan Siar an ath bhliadhna, cha robh an samhail air neach eile a bha cho freagarrach mar dhrochaid eadar an dà Mhòd.

The MacLennan Cromag – Mòd Shinty Chieftain 2026
Angus MacInnes has been named this year’s Mòd Shinty Chieftain for Mòd Ghlaschu 2026. Angus was raised in Paible, North Uist and is the grandson of Lachlan MacCuithein who played in the famous shinty game between Sollas and Tigharry in 1907 (pictured in 1982). A true Gaelic gentleman, Angus took to shinty when he moved to the mainland and has added greatly to shinty in Glasgow and Dunbartonshire as a player, a coach and as the president of Glasgow Mid-Argyll. A proud shinty dad as well as Alba national Gaelic team manager, with the Mòd returning to the Western Isles next year, there was no better candidate to serve as a bridge between the two Mòds.

HEBCELT SHINTY CHALLENGE CUP 2026

With the HebCelt Festival now in full swing, this is your reminder that we are just 24 hours away from the start of this year's shinty extravaganza!

We have plenty happening this year so make sure & get yourself over to Bayhead for what is always one of the highlights of the weekend!

We start off with a junior game at 11:30am then it's onto our first ever women's HebCelt match at 12:30pm.

Then at 2:30pm (pushed back slightly from 2pm), we reignite our rivalry with Uist in what is sure to be another enthralling clash of the ash!

It's always a very well-attended event so make your way to Bayhead tomorrow which is next door to the main arena & enjoy an afternoon of Scotland's native sport!
