As many of you will know by now, the organisers of the Lexden Arts Festival have decided not to hold further arts festivals at St Leonard's Church in Lexden - but they are launching an exciting new festival at All Saint's Church in Maldon High Street, which this year will run from 25th - 29th May.
The Art Exhibition will show work by many of our favourite festival artists including Jonathan Trim, Naomi Brangwyn and Caroline Sullivan, plus some brilliant newcomers.
James Russell is coming to give another of his fascinating art lectures and Hugh Lupton is returning for another wonderful storytelling evening.
See all the details on our new website www.allsaintsartsfestival.org.uk and keep checking back as new info is added!
We are also setting up a new page for the Festival - so keep a look out!

The third evening event at this year's Lexden Arts Festival is on Wednesday, 3rd May at 7.30pm. James Russell is returning for a second year, this time with an informative lecture on 'PAUL AND JOHN NASH: BROTHERS IN ART'. James is an acclaimed author, curator and lecturer, and his 'Ravilious and Bawden' talk at last year's Festival was very well received.

Our second evening event at this year's Lexden Arts Festival is on Bank Holiday Monday, 1st May when Old Leigh potter, Richard Baxter, will be giving an illustrated talk on his 35 years working with clay - 'MY LIFE IN CLAY'. He will also be bringing a mobile potter's wheel and doing a live demonstration of some of his processes and techniques which will be simultaneously projected onto an overhead screen so everyone will get a close up view! Artist visit number twelve - well, no, not a visit exactly as the twelfth artist is me, Sally Pudney. I'm co-director of the Festival, but didn't show in the exhibition last year. This year - I'm back!
I will be exhibiting my mixed media landscapes, some of my new 2017 painting project, 'A Year on Fingringhoe Wick', and the odd dinghy. I will also have limited edition canvas prints of some of my new dinghy paintings, lots of cards, and some little books called 'Twelve Months in an Essex Wood', featuring the twelve paintings from this 2016 project. To find out more about me and have a preview of my work go to www.sallypudneyartist.co.uk

Artist visit number eleven - to Wivenhoe to see Richard Allen. Richard showed at Lexden Arts Festival for the first time last year. His watercolours and lino prints of birds were very popular with our visitors so I was delighted when he agreed to come back for a second year. Richard is now a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists, and he has an amazing ability to capture the exact character of each bird. We will be having some of his oil paintings this year, as well as watercolours and prints. To find out more about Richard and have a preview of his work go to www.richardallenillustrator.com

Artist visit number ten - to Martlesham Heath to see knitwear designer, Caroline Sullivan. Caroline showed her work at the Festival last year, and her beautiful garments and accessories just flew out of the door. This year, in addition to waterfall jackets, neckwarmers, sleeveless jackets, hats, scarves and fingerless gloves, Caroline will be exhibiting her new line - knitted jewellery! This is made from sterling silver wire, or copper wire, and some pieces also feature semi-precious beads. Sure to be a hit with Festival goers! Artist visit number nine - to Stowmarket to see Greta Hansen. Greta is a print maker, using wood cut and lino cut techniques to create her prints. Her subject is landscape, often woodland, and her work has lots of interesting details which draw the viewer in. Greta is a relatively new member of the Suffolk Craft Society and has an internet presence on their website. www.suffolkcraftsociety.org

Artist visit number 8 - to Old Leigh to see potter Richard Baxter. Richard exhibited with us in 2014, but this year he is not just showing his work. On Monday, 1st May at 7.30pm, Richard, who has been a potter for 35 years, will be giving an illustrated lecture called 'My Life in Clay' which will feature a live demonstration using a mobile potter's wheel. There will be an opportunity during the interval to see and buy Richard's work, and also to view the rest of the Festival exhibition. If you are interested in coming to this event tickets priced £10.00 will go on sale on our website and at Red Lion Books, High Street Colchester, from 1st April.
