Welcome to Kirkgate Arts & Heritage- home to Cockermouth's vibrant venue the Kirkgate Centre & Cumbria's rural touring scheme Arts Out West. Please visit our website for more information https://kirkgateartsandheritage.org.uk/ our box office is open from 10am until midday on Mondays and Fridays, and for an hour prior to most public events. You can book online via our website, or call 01900 826448 and leave a message - a box office volunteer will call you back when the office is open. Page rules:

Comedy@Kirkgate is back this month! 🎤✨

John Lebbon returns to the Kirkgate Centre to host another fantastic night of top-tier live stand-up comedy, featuring a brilliant lineup of talent flying up the comedy ladder.

We are thrilled to welcome the multi-award-winning double act The Halls of Ridiculous, fresh off supporting Russell Kane on tour. Expect them to push sketch, character work, and high-energy improv to the absolute limit!

Joining them is TV favourite Chris Washington (Mock the Week, Live from the BBC), bringing his iconic, cheeky Northern charm and hilarious stories to Cockermouth.

Come and view Cockermouth’s heritage unboxed! 📦✨

We are opening up our archive of fascinating objects, historical photographs, old maps, and local memorabilia. From family life and schools to our old shops and factories, explore the everyday stories that shaped our town.

Our Heritage Volunteers will also be on hand to showcase some of their absolute favourite and most intriguing items from the collection.

Bring the whole family along—there will be free children's activities and refreshments available throughout the day.

Welcome to the all-new Sunday Sessions—a relaxed afternoon space built for local musicians, singers, and music lovers alike. Whether you want to test out your latest tunes, meet fellow creatives, or hop into a friendly jam session, we want to see you there!

Turn up on the day to grab a performance slot, or just come along for a brilliant afternoon of local talent. We have a digital piano, PA system, and mics ready to go.

Every Brilliant Thing is an honest, uplifting and very funny one-person show about growing up, love, and finding joy in the everyday. Brought to life with the help of the audience, each performance becomes a unique, shared experience.

Following its acclaimed run in Keswick, Theatre by the Lake takes this powerful production on tour to community venues across Cumbria, creating moments of laughter, reflection and connection along the way.

Each performance is different. Each audience shapes the story.
