This weekend, get into the Cockermouth Live mood at the festival fundraising event!

Delicious
Sunday, 7 June, 7pm

Samples and Stories of Bread, Beer and Coffee

Andy Walsh from Coffee Kitchen , Stephen Kidd from The Moon and Sixpence and Buster Grant from Jennings Brewery are all passionate about what they do and what they produce for Cockermouth’s residents and visitors. All are experts at their craft. But what are their backstories, how did they end up doing what they do – and why the passion ?

You are invited to come along and enjoy a very special one off evening to hear from the experts and sample lots of their produce too. Your entrance fee includes the chance to try some of Buster’s beer, Andy’s bakery products and Stephen’s coffee.

All money raised from this evening’s event will go towards paying for the cost of Cockermouth Live! We need to find approximately £30,000 each year to cover the costs of the festival. Cockermouth Live! and Delicious will go some way to helping to do that!

Your new favourite band are coming to town!

All the way from New Zealand we have Albi & The Wolves coming to Cockermouth 🤩 Saturday 13th June 8pm

Albi & The Wolves: "They are folk Jim, but not always as we know it.” Graham Reid. This elegant summary highlights what makes the indie-folk quartet different, by combining contemporary songwriting and the bands varied backgrounds they make something unique, but not unfamiliar.

Chris Dent (Acoustic guitar, lead vocals), Pascal Roggen (BV’s, electric violin), Micheal Young (BV’s, double bass), and Hannah De Koster (Drums) utilise those varied songs to make a crackling live show, something that the band is renowned for.

Their brand new album Light After The Dark (AAA Records) was produced by TeMatera Smith who helped the band push the boat out even further then ever before. This can now be found on all streaming platforms, in the words of Phill Taylor from EAST FM “it'll no doubt make you feel better”. Stream the music, or catch a live show whenever you can. You’ll no be disappointed.

Don't miss our heritage talk next week:

The New Mrs Davidson with Becks Skinner
Monday, 8 June, 6pm

Inspired by a Wedding Dress from 1911 at The Beacon Museum, Becks set herself the challenge of making an authentic ‘going away’ outfit from the period, using her 1905 Frister and Rossman Sewing Machine and learning historical hand sewing techniques.

We'll explore the research behind the project, as we look for traces of the bride, Mrs Davidson, through the records left during her lifetime in Whitehaven, Egremont and St Bees. Beck will delve into the fashions of the era and what life was like during this period.

All money raised from this evening’s event will go towards paying for the cost of Cockermouth Live!. There is already enormous goodwill in making the volunteer run festival happen each year. 10 of us meet every month throughout the preceding 12 months to plan it all and then are joined by 30 volunteer stewards for the weekend. And the vast majority of the performers play for free. But. We need to find approximately £30,000 each year to cover the costs of the festival. Cockermouth Live! and Delicious will go some way to helping to do that !
