Hi everyone, as many of you will be aware Sarah and I have been through a tough time of recent and we’ve made a difficult decision to not run The Ribblesdale Classic in 2026.
We understand it’s a huge loss to the bowling calendar and as a competition bowler myself understand it will affect bowlers diaries etc and I can only apologise to everyone for the late announcement.
Ultimately we have struggled to balance all aspects of everything over the previous years and this has made it even more difficult to run it again. I know it is a huge shame but if I can’t give the event 100% to running it and promoting it then I don’t want to run it. As the event has grown year on year so has the amount of extra work, a good problem to have but something I can’t commit to at the moment.
We’ve been amazed by how much support we’ve had throughout the years of running this event and as a consequence the success it has been.
I would like to take this opportunity to firstly thank all our brilliant sponsors throughout the running of the event and we hope that they will look to continue supporting the club in it’s other events in some way and into the future, without their wonderful support we couldn’t have run such a fabulous event with great prizes on offer.
I’d like to thank all the players who have supported, travelled and contributed to the event and also to everyone who’s been and supported the events as spectators because the success of any event is proven by the amount of people who turn up and watch. Also to all those who got involved in our predictor league.
Thank you must go to the team I had helping running the qualifiers and finals in all aspects, both members and non members, your support is invaluable. A big thank you to the club at Ribblesdale Wanderers and our members for backing our event.
One bonus is you won’t have you feeds blocked up with Ribblesdale Classic posts 😂
We haven’t made any final decisions on the future of the competitions, they may return in a different format or exactly the same 2026/2027 or it may not. The club are aiming to run their very popular Floodlight Pairs in Sep/Oct again which have run for many decades and we will also look at possibilities with the Junior competition too.
We hope everyone understands our decision and we’d like to thank you all for your support.
Thanks
Josh
