✅ HEY MARYPORT! THE LANTERN PARADE IS ON - PLEASE PASS IT ON! ✅

After lots of very careful weather watching we have been advised that our lantern parade can go ahead this evening.

The Centre will be open from 4.30pm so that people can collect their lanterns and enjoy FREE hot chocolate and crumble.

The parade will leave The Centre at 6pm.

The parade will be shortened to the streets surrounding The Centre (The Arches and Bounty Avenue) to remain sheltered from the wind and will last 30-45 minutes.

Everyone is welcome. Please note that all children and vulnerable adults MUST be accompanied by a responnsible adult.

Come and enjoy the atmosphere, food and drinks even if you're not parading. Come with friends, family or on your own.

If you haven't made a lantern you can still join the parade.

Come and help us to light up the night and celebrate our BEAUTIFUL and GENEROUS community.

Please share this message so we can get the word out.

The Guardian Returns!

Join us for our first Art Gyms exhibition and discover The Guardian, an extraordinary piece of Cleator Moor’s community art history, originally created in 2012 and now reimagined by a new generation of young people.

Open the beautiful English oak cabinet doors to discover The Guardian, surrounded by more than 100 personal curiosities and keepsakes contributed by local people - each with its own story to tell.

This autumn, our Art Gymers have taken inspiration from the original to create their own 3D Guardians and curiosities, adding a new chapter to this remarkable piece of community art.

Come along, see what our young people have been creating and discover The Guardian for yourself. We’d love to share its story with you!

We had some very special VIPs at Art Gyms last night!

Alongside our usual VIPs - the brilliant young people who come to Art Gyms every week - we had the pleasure of welcoming Mark from The National Lottery Community Fund and our local MP, Josh MacAlister MP.

They spent time chatting with our Art Gymers about how much they love coming each week, and with us about our commitment to creating more creative opportunities for young people and families in Cleator Moor and beyond.

Mark also brought along the all-important Big Cheque for a group photo! 📸

Art Gyms simply wouldn’t have been able to continue without the support of National Lottery players. The National Lottery creates much more than millionaires - it helps make things like Art Gyms happen.

Last night our Art Gymers were busy creating their own Guardians for The Guardian cabinet.

Inspired by the original piece of community art, they’ve been thinking about what a guardian might look like, what it could protect and what makes something special enough to become a curiosity.

Now they’re bringing their ideas to life in 3D, experimenting with different materials and creating their own very personal guardians to take their place inside the cabinet.

During October half term, we’ll be opening up The Guardian and inviting the local community to see the original piece alongside the new Guardians and curiosities created by our Art Gymers.

Watch this space for details of the exhibition!

Our young creatives are busy exploring the story behind this fascinating piece of community art and creating their own Guardians and curiosities to add to its story.

Our first week back at Art Gym was a busy one! 🎨

A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up - we’ve had a lovely evening getting to know each other, trying out some great art and crafting, and settling back into Art Gym.

We’re now at capacity, so if you think your young person would like to join us, please get in touch to be added to the waiting list. We’re sorry, but we can’t accommodate any walk-ups.

We’ll soon be sharing details of a special project that our Art Gymers will be helping us with. We’re very excited about this one!

Thanks again to everyone who has joined us - we’re looking forward to seeing what we create together. ❤️
