Our first week back at Art Gym was a busy one! 🎨

A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up - we’ve had a lovely evening getting to know each other, trying out some great art and crafting, and settling back into Art Gym.

We’re now at capacity, so if you think your young person would like to join us, please get in touch to be added to the waiting list. We’re sorry, but we can’t accommodate any walk-ups.

We’ll soon be sharing details of a special project that our Art Gymers will be helping us with. We’re very excited about this one!

Thanks again to everyone who has joined us - we’re looking forward to seeing what we create together. ❤️

We’ve got some lovely news!

We’re delighted to share that we have secured funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, helping us continue and develop our creative programme for young people and families in Cleator Moor.

Our Art Gyms for young people aged 10–16 have gone from strength to strength, and now have a new home in our creative studio at Phoenix Court.

And our SumArt To Do family workshops continue to bring families together during the school holidays to make, experiment and try something new.

This funding means we can reach more young people and families, develop new ideas and create even more opportunities to get involved. ❤️

We’ve already seen what can happen when people come together to make and create - from Art Gyms and family workshops to our recent Mid-Winter Hullabaloo, which welcomed 851 participants.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and everyone who continues to support what we do.

🌈 Thank you, Whitehaven Weekender🌈

We’ve had a brilliant couple of days keeping busy with all our lovely families and visitors - chatting about projects past, present and… future, and making some fantastic festival crafts along the way!

We’ve loved spotting your creations popping up all over the festival throughout the weekend.

Now it’s time for us to dry out all the tarps, pack everything away and put our feet up!

A huge thank you to everyone who came to say hello and get creative with us.

We’re heading to Whitehaven Weekender this weekend, bringing a little Handpicked colour, creativity and crafty fun to the harbour!

Come and find Janice, Helen and Lyn, who’ll be there to help you get creative, have a laugh and make something brilliant.

🌸 Saturday – Giant Flower Heed Hats
Get creative with us and make your very own giant flower heed hat! Choose your colours, get decorating and create a wonderfully bonkers floral headpiece to wear around the Weekender.

The bigger, brighter and more fabulous, the better! 🌸✨

🏳️‍🌈 Sunday – Festival Flags & Parade Fun
Make your own festival flag and then join in the Pride Parade around the harbour.
There’ll also be self-guided games and playful activities to enjoy throughout the weekend.

Creativity at the Carnegie!

Yesterday we welcomed families into the Carnegie Studios for Sum Art to Do, a fun and relaxed workshop with Handpicked Productions

With plenty of imagination, making and creativity, everyone got stuck in and created their very own mini theatres inspired by the Carnegie.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Handpicked Productions and artist Janice Murray for such a brilliant workshop.

Our programming for families and young people has been made possible thanks to support from Sellafield Ltd, Cumberland Council and the Better Tomorrows programme.

Yesterday we had the best day with the lovely families at Carnegie Theatre & Arts Centre, making our very own Mini Theatres!

A special shout out to Becca, who gave us a tour of the beautiful auditorium and shared some of its amazing heritage with us. It made the workshop extra special!

We are absolutely delighted that this is happening! 💛

The Art of Friendship at Florence Arts Centre is a celebration not only of two incredible artists, but of a friendship that has inspired communities across West Cumbria for more than 20 years.

Janice and Helen of Morgan Murray Arts have been a force to be reckoned with in creative community engagement, bringing people together through art and shared experiences.

We’re proud to call them not just colleagues, but friends too.

This exhibition showcases some of their collaborative work from the past two decades and is a wonderful reminder of the creativity, trust and joy that can grow from friendship.

After all, where would we be without friendship.

Show your support for this amazing duo and celebrate what promises to be a beautiful exhibition.
