Today would have been an extra special hill race to remember! Marking the sacrifice and human spirit of WW2, we face sacrifice once more. Albeit nowhere near the same level, sacrifice all the same. We will meet again, stay strong, stay well, stay home 🇬🇧

Rivington Pike and Good Friday Message

Every Good Friday thousands of people choose to celebrate Easter by visiting Rivington Pike on Good Friday. Each year UU support this day through the provision of staff on-site, toilets, litter collection, etc. However this year we want to persuade people to not visit the area to avoid so many people being in close proximity to one another with the present coronavirus situation.

We are in the process of contacting Silcocks who bring the fayre to ask them not to come and have been in touch with UUs comms dept to try and highlight the issues.

Any help people can offer to spread the word would be much appreciated.

Sadly, our hill race will be postponed until there is a change in guidance from the FRA and EA.
We are a race that has insurance, a license and land permissions. We don’t operate in isolation and would not want to place our precious running community and services in an increased vulnerable position.
We are sad but we are also sensible and care. Fingers crossed the COVID-19 landscape changes for the good soon! Stay safe and be kind 👌🏻❤️

The date of the race will change to coincide with the change for the May BH 2020! So our event won’t be on the Monday BH but in line nationally for VE Day, it will be Friday the 8th of May!

I just thought I’d email you regarding your ‘joes cup race’. I decided To do 40 events from my 40th birthday to 41st (I think mid life crisis thing) all of various distances 5k-69 miles(hopefully) so started to do less mainstream events (I cant really afford to do 40 events at £30+ ha ha). But out of the all the events done even before my 40 @40 I have to say I absolutely loved your event and hope to put this on my annual run list. Thank you for such a great event
