It’s 11 years to the day that myself and promoted the first ever Wiltshire’s Strongest in 2015.
The years 2014.. I’m the other side of the world in Perth, Western Australia. I’d just competed in their state championships and thought to myself that I fancy having a crack at running a comp. So I text my trusty sidekick and training partner Dave Walsh and a plan was set in motion.
I returned to the UK just before Christmas that year and set about getting a venue, sourcing equipment and sponsors. The competition was a sell out by the end of January. The opens had a stacked line up of national level competitors and the novice was also just as competitive.

On the day we had a crowd of 250 people throughout the day and we saw some really impressive performances across the competition.
It makes me proud that 11 years later it’s still going strong and is recognised as one of the more challenging amateur events on the calendar, attracting competitors from all over the UK and this year for the first time, from the continent.
