💐Get ready to join Daniel, an amazing eight-foot puppet who will be leading the free ‘Walk of the Dandelion’ event in Chichester city centre this coming Saturday, 6 June. The event is a huge creative collaboration between Chichester Cathedral, the Culture Spark initiative (Chichester Festival Theatre, Pallant House Gallery and Chichester District Council), the Chichester BID and Novium Museum to mark the start of Great Big Green Week and celebrate the final day of the cathedral’s spectacular Festival of Flowers.

The city of Chichester will be bursting with colour, scent and creativity and we hope as many people as possible will come along to the event which runs 10am until 4pm. Daniel's journey will start at Chichester Cathedral, and finish at Chichester Festival Theatre. Enjoy music, crafts, storytelling and dancing at various locations in the city centre.

in the district this week?

The Festival of Flowers at Chichester Cathedral returns from Wednesday 3 June until Saturday 6 June for its 30th anniversary. This much-loved event will see the Cathedral transformed by more than 50,000 blooms in a spectacular celebration of colour, scent and creativity.

The South Downs Food Festival returns to Stansted Park on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June, bringing a spectacular weekend of food, drink, and celebration.

On Sunday 7 June, previous winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Musician of the year, John McCusker, will be leading the John McCusker Trio in a rich tapestry of original compositions, traditional melodies, and contemporary folk songs at the Old Orchard AKA Southbourne Village Hall.

💐Get ready to join Daniel, an amazing eight-foot puppet who will be leading the free ‘Walk of the Dandelion’ event in Chichester city centre on Saturday 6 June.

You’re invited to step into a day of wonder as Daniel roams through Chichester city centre sharing gifts of dandelions, each with a message of positivity. Daniel's journey will start at Chichester Cathedral, and finish at Chichester Festival Theatre. Along the way he will be visiting businesses ranging from galleries, cafés and salons to independent retailers across the city who will be transforming their shopfronts into a trail of floral creativity, linking with the Chichester in Bloom trail created by The Chichester BID. The idea is to extend the spirit of the much-loved Festival of Flowers into the city centre.

Enjoy music, crafts, storytelling and dancing at various locations in the city centre.

If you’re in Oaklands Park today, say hello to our colleagues from the Green Spaces Team - they will be in or around the play area from 11am - 1pm to give people the opportunity to find out more about plans for a new walking, cycling and wheeling route through the park. Pop along to see the proposed plans, ask questions, and speak to our team about the project and how it will support green travel around the city.

The proposed route would create a safe off‑road path suitable for walking, wheeling and cycling. Designed to link the north‑east of Chichester with the city centre and east-west to Broyle Road, it would improve access to key destinations including the University of Chichester and Chichester Festival Theatre.

What an amazing turnout! A huge thank you to everyone who visited Chichester city centre for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride on Sunday in support of Movember and men’s health. We had a fantastic time putting on our Dapper Market and backing such an important cause and seeing the community come together. A special thank you to Chichester BID and the city retailers who took part on the day – your involvement helped make the event even more fantastic.

Many thanks and credit to Carlien Photography for the photos used in this post.
