Cheltenham Festival is the highlight of the British national hunt season and one of the biggest sporting events of the year. Held annually in March the Cheltenham Festival is held over four days and features races over distances ranging from 2 miles to 4 miles over hurdles and fences. Cheltenham attracts the very best British and Irish trained horses and always attracts thousands of Irish horse ra

cing fans who often enjoy St Patricks Day when it coincides with the Festival. The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the feature race of the meeting and is ran over 3 miles and 2.5 furlongs for horses aged five and over. Recent famous winners include Kauto Star and Long Run. Other Championship races include the Champion Hurdle, ran on the opening day each year , The Queen Mother Champion Chase ran on the Wednesday and the World Hurdle ran on the Thursday.
