Simon was at this festival, in the swallows that dipped and swelled during his eulogy, in the huge stone we brought down from his beloved mountain Cairnsmore, in the free-spirited energy of the horse and in the love that bathed the event from start to finish.
He would have been quite tickled to have a story about him on BBC News. Finding recognition or glory was the complete opposite of what he was about. For us left behind though, it is lovely to have him, his life's work and values recognised.. السلام عليكم Simon!
Simon and Liz Holmes set up the Knockengorroch Festival near Carsphairn in Galloway back in 1998. When he died in December last year, the family considered cancelling the event as it happened at one of the busiest times for preparations.
