THINGS TO see/do in LINCOLN
1. Steep Hill Bailgate
With an average incline of 16.12°, it is the fourth steepest hill in England. A picturesque, cobbled street lined with quaint independent shops and restaurants.
Look out for the wonky lamp post half-way up Steep Hill, and the ‘Mayor’s Chair’.
Just around the corner, you will also find the crooked house on Michaelgate.
2. Lincoln Cathedral
Lincoln Cathedral, the most iconic building in the city. Built in 1072, the cathedral is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in all of Europe.
3. Newport Arch
Situated at the top of Bailgate, Newport Arch dates back to the 3rd century. Constructed in AD200, this arch is part of the original north gate for the Upper Roman City of Lindum Colonia.

4. Lincoln Castle
Lincoln Castle, built by William the Conqueror in 1068. Free guided tours on offer every day.
You will need a ticket to go inside, but the grounds of Lincoln Castle are free to visit.
​5. Lincoln’s Green Spaces
Home to a number of parks and green spaces, the Arboretum, Liquorice Park and Temple Gardens are within walking distance of the city centre.​
6. Lincoln High Bridge
Situated in the centre of the High Street, the bridge was built over the River Witham in 1160.

What's the timings for the day ?
We will need be at the Castle Donington Bus Station for 09:15 so we can set off promptly at 09:30. We’ll have a minimum of 4 hours free time there. Departure from Lincoln - 15:30 to get home by about 17:00.

What is there to do in Lincoln ?
Well the simple answer is lots, but to help out we have shared a few ideas below as well as an information sheet for you to print and take with you on the day.

What can I bring?
The bus is all ours for the day, so if you want to bring chairs and picnics then please do. The only proviso is if you can't lift it, we can't ask our driver to, so do bear that in mind.

Love Castle Donington would like to invite you to its very own Teddy Bears Picnic. After catering for all the boring oldies of the village , it’s time to invite the children to a fun afternoon, don’t forget to bring your bears.

Event details are:
Venue: Spittal Pavilion
Date: Saturday 20th June
Time: 14:00 till 16:00
After all need to allow time for an afternoon nap before going to play.
