A polite request to all dog owners 🐾

We really don't want to have to post this, but we are becoming increasingly frustrated and disappointed by the amount of dog mess being left around the village hall and down Pyes Lane.

The hall and its surrounding areas are shared by everyone in the village and it’s such a shame that people are having to watch where they step.
Ironically a huge pile was left at the bottom of the ramp for disabled access today, right under the no fouling notice 🙄

We completely appreciate that dogs need to be walked and that accidents can happen. All we are asking is that, if your dog does have to do a number 2, please pick it up and take the bag with you. There is even a dog poo bin beside the VH carpark!

We’re sure the vast majority of dog owners are considerate and responsible, and we really do appreciate those who always clean up after their dogs.

Please can everyone help us keep the area around the village hall clean, welcoming and safe for everyone to enjoy 😊

Despite a scorching summer that put our gardens to the ultimate test, the annual horticultural show blossomed into a wonderful success! The village hall was buzzing with colour, creativity and community spirit, as residents came together to admire an impressive display of flowers, fruit, vegetables and home-grown treasures. With such a fantastic turnout, it was a brilliant celebration of everything our local gardeners have achieved this year.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that our Family Memories Day raised an incredible £1,700! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A huge thank you to everyone who came through the door and supported us. Every contribution, big or small, helped make the day such a wonderful success. 💰👏
A special thank you also goes to everyone who volunteered their time and energy on the day. Your help was very much appreciated and made such a difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who came to our Family Memories Day today!
We’ve been absolutely blown away by the number of people who came along to look through the photos, reminisce, enjoy a cuppa and a slice of cake. ☕️ 🍰

The raffle was a huge success, and Sponsor a Slate has gone off the scale! It’s still running, so keep an eye out for more updates. 🏠

The children’s area was also a big hit, with traditional fete games, plenty of playing and, of course, ice creams! 🍦 Thanks to all the guys and gals out in the garden who held their own, donating the prizes and their time.

A massive thank you to our Village Hall Committee, all the wonderful volunteers and everyone who donated raffle prizes. We truly couldn’t have done it without you.
I’ll be doing another post to personally thank everyone who helped make the day so special.
Without our community, none of this would be possible.

Thank you all so much — and now I’m off to sit down with a well-earned G&T! 🍸

Just one final push and reminder that our Family Memories Day is happening on Bank Holiday Monday, from 1pm–4pm! 🏡

We’ve got a fantastic afternoon lined up for everyone, with something for all ages.

Our Sponsor a Slate fundraiser is still running, so come and have a chat with us if you’d like to find out more or sponsor a slate towards our Village Hall Roof Fund.

Have you seen our two new village hall event signs? We think they look great!

Also thanks to one of our fabulous committee volunteers Marion for planting up our planters and having a good tidy up around the front of the hall.

Its looks so inviting.... just in time for our family memories day on bank holiday monday, 1 til 4.

Don’t forget, on Monday 31st August, we’re holding our Family Memories Day at the village hall!

Come along and take a trip down memory lane as we look through some wonderful old photographs of Castle Acre, (feel free to bring your own for us to have a look at too) while enjoying a lovely piece of cake and a tea or coffee. ☕🍰

There will also be entertainment for the children outside, including a fabulous bouncy castle, kindly donated to us by the generous Inflate-a-bubbles

We are offering everyone the opportunity to 'Sponsor a Slate' for £10 from the castle acre village hall roof.

If you would like you to Sponsor a Slate you would need to go to our just giving page and leave the name or message you'd like on your slate in the comments. Maybe you would dedicate it to a loved one who used the hall in the past, maybe you got married here, the ideas are endless!

When the tiles are off, that message will be written in white permanent marker pen and placed back on the roof.
Your slate and message will be put into a book that will stay in the hall and also made available online for future generations to examine.
