After an unbelievable two weeks of Nerd Varsity, where societies battled in an ultimate showdown to prove who was the nerdiest of them all, the final points from the Finale are now in:

2nd Place: Film Society: 77
3rd Place: Gaming Society: 65
4th Place: Quiz Society: 34

Congratulations to Sci-Fi and Fantasy Society, who will be taking home the prize pot for their chosen charity, Force for Change! And a massive thank you to everyone who took part in Nerd Varsity! It's been an amazing two weeks of competition, and a lot of fun for all involved! We can't wait to do this all again with you next year!

Once again, a big thank you to Ciaran Caple-williams for all their help with the set-up, running, and judging of the Quidditch Tournament, and a massive thank you to Hannah Scholes for her Snitch-running skills, and for being my long-suffering assistant throughout who was always willing to help out and help keep me sane! We couldn't have done it without you!

The individual breakdown of the night's points are as follows:

Cosplay competition:

2nd place (6 points): Gaming Society (Mercy - Overwatch)
3rd place (3 points): Sci-Fi Society (D&D Map)

Film competition:

Quiz:
1st place (24 points): Sci-Fi Society (S**t Show Sci-Fi - 59, and Sci-Fi Gimps - 55)
2nd place (12 points each): Quiz Society (Quiz - 53.5) and Film Society (Filmsoc Team! Exclamation Mark? - 53.5)

Tonight's the night, the FINALE of Nerd Varsity 2019. Thank you to all who have turned up over the last fortnight, we've all had a lot of fun!

But there's still plenty to play for, with 84 points still to be given out! We have a Cosplay Competition, the results of the film making challenge and of course the QUIZ EXTRAVAGANZA, all of which takes place in Y Plas from 6 onwards!

We've got a HUGE day of competition today, with 62 points on offer today!!!!!

First we have the Lightsaber Tourney at 2pm, release your inner Jedi to defeat all who stand in your way!

Then at 4pm we have the Naruto Sprint, a running competition where you must mimic Naruto or Sonic and get over the line first!

And finally we have the Dodgeball tournament, dodge and catch and dodge and catch your way to victory from 5 onwards!!!

All in the Great Hall, see you there!

The next few events are a (non-competitive) social to see Captain Marvel at Cineworld today (18:00), the triple whammy of the Lightsaber Tournament (14:00), the Naruto 100m dash (16:00), and the Dodgeball Tournament (17:00), all taking place in the Great Hall tomorrow, and the Potion Brewing session (19:00) in the Lodge on Thursday.

After an amazing afternoon of running about with brooms, the results of the Quidditch Tournament are now in, and the scores for Nerd Varsity are now up:

1st place (12 points): Gaming Society
2nd place (6 points): Sci-Fi Society
3rd place (3 points): The Harry Panime Alliance (Harry Potter and Anime combined)

A massive thank you to Ciaran Caple-williams and their Quidditch Society teammates for setting up the pitch, teaching us how to play, and reffing the games, and another massive thank you to Hannah Scholes for volunteering to dress in the most fetching yellow outfit and be our Snitch!
