Our Historian and Outreach Officer, Dr Thomas Alexander Husøy, ( vikingclassicist ) spoke about our work celebrating Norwegian heritage in Wales and strengthening the cultural and political links between Norway and Wales.

🇳🇴 Another Man’s Shoes: The Sven Sømme Story 🇳🇴

Discover the extraordinary true story of one man’s resistance to the N**i occupation of his beloved country.

In 1944, Norwegian scientist and resistance agent Professor Sven Sømme was arrested as a spy. After escaping his captors, he spent two months crossing the Norwegian wilderness ❄️🏔️, trekking through deep snow and evading the Gestapo until he reached freedom in Sweden.

His surviving daughter, Ellie Sømme MBE, will tell her father’s remarkable story and share real WWII artefacts that belonged to him, including stamps concealing hidden microfilm 🔎📜
