This years sleigh ride wouldn’t have been made possible if it weren’t for the amazing volunteers as well as Garth Rotary Club and Pentyrch Community Council.
All monies raised on the night went in full to the charity Holibobs. Not one person, including myself, got paid to run or take part in this event or had their expenses covered. This event was only made possible by the generosity of the volunteers, PCC and Garth Rotary Club. I’m sure you will join me in thanking them for making this event such a special one and such a huge success. 👏
👫🏻The volunteers you saw on the night were all members of my family - including the two brilliant stars of the show on the sleigh! I am very proud and grateful to them (and also relieved that the meticulously careful planning made sure that it didn’t ruin the magic for my little boy Bryn so 🤫 if you see us out and about!).
📣A massive thank you to our Uncle Andrew who helped keep all of the elves safe by buying, designing and organising the printing of our personalised ‘Elf and Safety’ high vis jackets himself as well as purchasing Rudolph’s outfit for the big night 🧡
📣A huge thank you to Pentyrch Community Council for allowing us the use of their van and trailer, and especially to Colin (a member of PCC) who drove the vehicle around the estate on the night as well as driving the trailer to Hendredenny and back from Pentyrch in one piece. Colin also did a trial run of the proposed route with me before the big night to make sure it was viable.
📣An enormous thank you to Garth Rotary Club who beautifully decorated the trailer and equipped it with lights, a bubble machine and audio. Richard Porth from Garth Rotary was a great help to me, supported the transportation of the trailer to and from Pentyrch, helped Santa with the audio and walked the event with us making sure it was all working.
📣Finally a big thank you to you all for donating, supporting the event and coming out to see Father Christmas and Rudolph, and for those driving about on the estate on the evening. Every car slowed down or stopped, didn’t overtake and (apart from one driver) kept us all safe and waited patiently for the sleigh to turn. We even had beeps and shouts of gratitude from those travelling past…thank you! What a brilliant community we have 🥰
