Trosglwyddo’r awen o ganu’r delyn i genhedlaeth newydd yw prif nôd yr Ŵyl rithiol hon. Bydd yn gyfle i gofio tri o gewri byd y delyn a fu farw’n ddiweddar, ar gân ac ar lafar, gyda disgyblion a chyfeillion Osian Ellis yn dysgu ac yn perfformio. Ynghanol trybini Covid, mae’r delyn a’i cherddoriaeth yn codi’r galon ac yn cyfoethogi bywydau.

The virtual version of the Wales Harp Festival aims to transmit the harp’s “eternal muse” to future generations. Events will be held online to remember the Festival President, Osian Ellis, with contributions in word and music from Osian’s students and colleagues. In the middle of our troubles, the harp and its music can raise spirits and enrich lives.

On 16th April 2006 the first Welsh International Harp Festival opened at Caernarfon, featuring a wide range of music played on different types of harp, including Triple harps, Celtic harps, African Kora and Ku-cheng from China.

The harp originated in Mesopotamia and the instrument has been adopted by cultures throughout the world in a variety of forms, but in Wales there are more harps per head of population than anywhere else and it is considered to be our national instrument.
