We recently welcomed students from Guildhall Feoffment Community Primary School to The Athenaeum as part of their day of discovery, learning about Charles Dickens relation to Bury St Edmunds and its local venues.

Students got to see the Ballroom and the Reading Room where Charles Dickens himself once stood and gave a reading of A Christmas Carol and the Pickwick Papers in October 1859 and then again two years later in October 1861 from David Copperfield.

A big thank you to the staff involved and the students themselves for their great behaviour and brilliant questions!
