πββοΈ **A Journey of Resilience: My Marathon for Barnardo's** πββοΈ
Dear friends and family,
I'm taking a significant step by running the London Marathon for Barnardo's. My childhood was marked by significant abuse by the very people that were meant to love and support me, a struggle that has deeply impacted my life. However, today, I stand before you not just as a survivor, but as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
Barnardo's has been a beacon of hope for children who have faced similar challenges. Their work in supporting and nurturing these young lives resonates deeply with me, and it's why I've chosen to run for them.
This marathon is more than a physical challenge; it's a symbol of the journey I've been on β from darkness to light, from victim to victor. While I still navigate the complexities of mental health, I do so with the knowledge that I am one of the lucky ones. Now, I run to extend that luck, that support, to others who need it.
Your support in this endeavor means more than you can imagine. By donating to my JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/page/steve-brookes-1699985191045 you're not just supporting me; you're helping to uplift children who need that guiding light in their lives.
This revelation might come as a surprise, but I share it with the hope that it brings awareness and ignites a collective effort to support these vulnerable children. Let's stand together for a cause that changes lives.
Thank you for being part of my journey, for your support, and for believing in the power of resilience and hope.
