Some of you may remember John Harvey who lived on the island for about 10 years and devised some really interesting productions. He subsequently went on to work for Dundee Rep and Dundee Arts centre.
Now well retired, John would like to produce one final play on Arran.
Heather Gough is inviting all those interested (Juniors and Seniors) to a meeting on Wed 3rd June. If there are enough people it will be his version of Candide - with music - original and otherwise. Heather says:

β€œIt is an exciting show and John is an exciting person to work with - full of creative ideas and will be looking for a cast composed of all ages and abilities as well as with any particular skill or interest to offer.
I can promise, that provided we attract enough people, it will be an exciting community piece. To test enthusiasm for the project John and I will be holding a meeting on Wednesday 3rd June at 7.30 in Brodick Church Hall.
If you are interested at all please come along. If you are interested but can't come next Wednesday please let me know - email [email protected] or phone 07960309158.
Really hope to see you there.”

So Western’s Open (Adult) journey has come to an end this year - however both our fantastic teams 88 Theatre and Stranraer Drama Club got special mentions for excellence from the Scottish Final adjudicator Walker Ewart. We are immensely proud of you and of all of our teams and know that Bon Accord Players will fly the flag wonderfully for Scotland in Wales in July. We all wish you β€œbreak a leg”.

However, we weren’t totally without winners! Andy McNamara from Arran District and V L Heathcote from Argyll District were awarded 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Scotts Salver Playwriting Competition - Congratulations!!
