If you are in need of our assistance, it’s a great benefit for all concerned if we know where you are. The Ordnance Survey Grid Reference is the preferred system of location for Land Search and Rescue in the UK.

A 6-figure grid reference defines a square 100m x 100m in which an overflying rescue helicopter or an approaching Mountain Rescue Team will easily find a distress person.

Here are mobile phone apps that will provide your current location in OS Grid using GNSS without the need for a mobile data connection.
GRID REFERENCE by Arthur Embleton, for Android
GPS OS GRID REFERENCE by Tomtrails, for Apple
OS LOCATE by Ordnance Survey, for Android or Apple.

If you are outside the UK then there are equivalent apps on the market for UTM, MGRS or ITM.
