The great British sardine deserves its moment.

We import the same few species over and over while brilliant fish like sardines go unsung. Fresh, responsibly fished, caught in our waters, and absolutely MADE for a BBQ. They are the true taste of summer.

Come and taste what you've been missing. South West Sardine Festival, Brixham Harbour on the 9th August. Tickets on our website.

"But I don't really like sardines..."

We hear this a lot. And we get it. But a fresh British sardine, grilled over charcoal and served simply with salad and bread, is a very different thing to the ones you've had before. Come and try....That's all we ask.

If Spain and Portugal can shut down whole streets to celebrate the humble sardine, why can't we?

Here in the South West we've got the harbours, the chefs, and the fish (AND of course we have the folk who know how to have a darn good time!) Together, well that's more than enough.

So here it is: The South West Sardine Festival. Brixham Harbour. 9th August. £12 tickets on our website.

The South West Sardine Festival. Brixham Harbour. Sunday 9th August. 12 till 9.

Last year was something special. This year we're going bigger. Long communal tables winding through the harbour, live music from midday, and some of the UK's best seafood chefs grilling sardines right on the quayside.

Ā£12 gets you a plate of freshly grilled British sardines, a salad and a bread roll. One menu. One fish. Cooked on the barbie

Tickets on our website.

It's back...!!

Our friends in Portugal and Spain are mighty good at celebrating the season their sardines fill the seas. We asked ourselves, if they can do it, why can't we?! And so the idea for the South West Sardine Fest was born! A harbour-side celebration of the Great British sardine for the community of Brixham and beyond.

Last year the sun shone, hundreds of people joined us on the quay, and we spent the day eating freshly grilled sardines, drinking wine and listening to live music. It really was a special day.

This year we're back on 9th August, and we've got some brilliant chefs joining us behind the grills. Matt Tebbutt, Sam White, Mark Hix and more...

Tickets are £12 and on sale now on the Rockfish website. Link is in the comments

What an incredible day! ā˜€ļøšŸŸ

We were overjoyed to see so many come and enjoy sardines with us at our very first Sardine Festival! We’ve received many lovely messages and can’t wait to bring back the festival next year, bigger and better!

We of course want to give huge thank yous to everyone who made it possible. We really couldn’t have done it without the support from our sponsors, chefs, entertainment, volunteers and the whole Brixham community!

You know what's better than a perfectly grilled sardine? A whole community coming together to make this sardine festival happen.

From setting up grills to serving plates, playing music to spreading the word - everyone got stuck in. Even the sardine sceptics. The South West Sardine Festival came to life because of the brilliant local community and that's something seriously special.
