Severn Seas Festival

Severn Seas Festival A baby shanty festival for Bristol with ideas above its station. Come along on the 22nd August 2015

Six sea shanty bands - local and far-flung - will take to the stage on Saturday 22nd August 2015 in No.1 Harbourside, the Cascade Steps and Under The Stars, as well as riding on the Bristol Ferry Boats to entertain the passengers. The aim is to entertain and educate the Bristol public in sea shanties and how closely they’re linked with the area’s heritage and cultural history. It promises to be a

fun day out for all the family, with a wide range of songs and styles; from slow songs about shipwrecks and the problems of sailing life, to fast, toe-tapping songs about romance and tongue-in-cheek shenanigans - not forgetting lots of audience participation! The day will run from 1pm till the finale at 7pm, around the central edge of the harbourside. The organisers are hoping to make it an annual event, with more bands, more stages, and additional workshops and interactive features next year.
