What a festival, what a city ✨

For ten nights, Bristol Light Festival 2026 transformed the city after dark with spectacular installations, creativity and moments of connection across Bristol.

From the historic illumination of Clifton Suspension Bridge to magical performances, workshops and events, this year’s festival was our most ambitious yet.

Together with artists, partners and venues, Bristol came alive with light, culture and experiences.

As we look ahead to 2027, we’d love to hear about your experience.

We’re still glowing after that one! 💡

Bristol, that’s it for another year - you’ve been incredible.

A huge thank you to our artists, stewards, production team, partners, and, of course, you - our wonderful visitors - for making the festival so special.

With 10 dazzling artworks and a wider programme spread across a larger footprint than ever before, 2026 was our boldest edition yet - we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

⚡ JELLYMONSTERS ⚡

It’s our final day and your last chance to catch Rob Hodgson’s Jellymonsters! 🪼

Taking over LHG Brewpub, these curious creatures are lured out of the River Avon by intriguing sounds.

The Jellymonsters invite audiences of all ages to play and experiment. Whisper, clap, sing, or make a noise and watch them react through colour, light, and movement. 🌈

⚡ MIDNIGHT BALLET ⚡

Brought to life by Will Budgett, seven illuminated steel sculptures have transformed Royal Fort Gardens into a dreamlike performance of light and
shadow. 🩰

Constructed from scrap metal, each abstract structure is precisely lit to cast the silhouette of a graceful ballerina, creating a silent choreography after dark.

⚡THE CAT THAT SLEPT FOR A THOUSAND YEARS⚡

Allow festival favourites Air Giants to introduce you to their gentle giant creation, resting beside Bristol Harbour.

Stretching ten metres from ear to tail, audiences are invited to touch, stroke and interact with this monumental soft-robotic cat, gently breathing, twitching, and purring as visitors approach.

Allow Liz West to introduce her two major installations, taking over Cabot Circus Car Park.

Transforming Level 7 into a vivid, immersive world of colour and reflection, both Our Colour and Our Colour Reflection explore how colour shapes our emotions, perception and relationship with space.

Bristol Light Festival Creative Director Katherine Jewkes shines a light on our world-premiere collaboration with Cameron Balloons.

The Lite Series brings Bristol’s iconic ballooning heritage down to earth at College Green, combining extraordinary craftsmanship with playful interaction - just pull a simple cord to ‘fly’ a balloon!

⚡ BELL JAR FAIRIES ⚡🧚

These tiny Bristol fairies have taken up residency in the Royal West of England Academy. Inspired by the city's landscapes, each fairy invites you to discover a piece of their world.

Let yourself be enchanted by the Bell Jar Fairies, created by Davy & Kristin McGuire, known for immersive storytelling, projection art, and theatrical installations.

While at the RWA, dive deeper into our mysterious universe with a late night tour of the Cosmos: the art of observing Space exhibition on Friday 27 February. The building is fully accessible as usual throughout the festival with toilets available on the Ground Floor and Lower Ground Floor.
