🎬 Fairyland is screening for one week from Friday 29 May to Thursday 4 June.

Directed by Andrew Durham, and starring Emilia Jones, Scoot McNairy, Nessa Dougherty, Cody Fern, Adam Lambert, Maria Bakalova and Geena Davis, this beautiful coming-of-age story is based on Alysia Abbott’s bestselling memoir and produced by Sofia Coppola.

Following the sudden death of her mother, young Alysia is uprooted by her father, Steve, in the search for a fresh start. Landing in 1970s San Francisco, Steve flourishes with the freedom to develop his writing and date other men. However, his bohemian lifestyle clashes with the expectations of parenting. As Alysia grows into a young woman on the cusp of adulthood, their bonds are tested in surprising ways.

Q***r Vision is collaborating with Watershed for this screening and on Mon 1 June 17:40 the film will include an introduction followed by a post-screening discussion in the Café & Bar.

Come as you are and celebrate! Q***r Vision Film Festival is delighted to present this groundbreaking and uproariously funny comedy gem from director Mike Nichols.

The Birdcage is loosely adapted from the farcical French play, and its subsequent film adaptation, La Cage aux Folles. It follows cabaret club owners and lovers Armand (Robin Williams) and Albert (Nathan Lane) receiving word that their son is intent on marrying the daughter of a controversial conservative politician (Gene Hackman).

To accommodate, the couple make sincere attempts to hide their true selves when the father of the bride abruptly comes to visit. But as their stay increases, the truth must eventually win out.

Thirty years on, The Birdcage is still a fierce and uncompromising celebration of love in all its
forms
