(Y)OUR LITTLE MATTER: An interactive performance for young and old by Britt Hatzius & Cecilie Gravesen
Hijack Children's Festival are looking for adults and children aged 6-11 to participate in a tester workshop for an interactive performance at Komedia Brighton on Sunday 8th March 2020.
We are looking for 8 adults and 8 children for each session, so each booking will be for one child and one accompanying adult. If you are interested in coming along and being part of the process, please email [email protected] and state which session you would like to book: 11am-12noon or 1-2pm or 2-3pm and the name and age of child and name of adult.
The experience will last around 20 minutes followed by feedback and discussion with each group.
(Y)OUR LITTLE MATTER
In a darkened auditorium and separated by a mobile wall, children and their adult embark on different but intertwining experiences. The children are guided by headphones, the adults through text and speakers in the room.
Both groups immerse themselves into a humorous and meaningful visual-auditory-sensory experience. Prompted by questions (Y)our Little Matter will ask you to suspend disbelief and creatively think about the deeply embedded ideas of gender stereotypes, and ask you how you connect them.
Commissioned by Hijack & Komedia Productions the piece has been conceived by German artist Britt Hatzius (Blind Cinema) and Danish artist Cecilie Gravesen to unsettle given assumptions about gender stereotypes- who we are, or who we are expected to be. Together can we challenge what is currently accepted? As adults/parents/carers? And as children who are at the early stages of discovering who they are and who they could be?
