Hi everyone. We know you all love the ride and what it stands for. This will be our 20th ride and so wanted to make it really stand out and be special.
However, due to a number of reasons we are having to appeal for even more help this year. You may not be aware of the enormous amount of work that goes into hosting the event and assume it just happens. Below is a summary of what we need to make it a safe and successful ride. If you are local and have some skills that would be useful to the ride then please get in touch. It would be preferable to join us in our organiser's meetings.
Otherwise we would consider people further afield who could participate in video calls during our meetings. The best way to get in touch is via Messenger through Facebook so we urgently seek your help as otherwise we will have no choice but to postpone the ride until next year. Thank you.
Urgent Call: Brighton Naked Bike Ride 2026 at Risk Without Volunteers
Brighton, UK – One of Brighton’s most iconic and eye-catching events could be forced to cancel in 2026 unless new volunteers step forward.
The Brighton Naked Bike Ride, known for its bold celebration of cycling, environmental awareness, and body positivity, is currently in jeopardy due to a shortage of organisers. The small team behind the event is appealing to the local community to help keep the ride alive.
Without additional support, the volunteer-run event may not be able to meet the planning, safety, and coordination requirements needed to go ahead.
Organisers are urgently seeking people willing to attend occasional meetings in person or join Zoom calls to assist with essential tasks, including:
Liaison with police and Brighton & Hove City Council
Website support and digital communications
Event set-up and take-down
Marshalling riders on the day
Health and safety coordination
Route guidance and participant support
Body painting for riders
“This is a much-loved Brighton event that simply can’t happen without community support,” said a spokesperson. “We need more people to step in now, or the ride may not go ahead in 2026.”
The Brighton Naked Bike Ride has long drawn participants and spectators from across the UK, contributing to the city’s vibrant cultural scene. Organisers stress that even a small amount of time or specific skills can make a crucial difference.
