Another opportunity to meet Vicky & Barrie Nazer, our hosts of Breedon Open Gardens for 3 years now. They took over the reins after Covid as they didn't want to see an historic village event fade away.

From months of planning, coordinating, working behind the scenes and making sure everything runs smoothly on the day – they’ve put in hours of dedication to keep the life in Open Gardens for everyone to enjoy 🌸 💚

Their passion and love for all things green and making people happy is what makes this event so special. It’s not just about beautiful gardens – it’s about bringing people together, raising money for a great cause and creating a lovely community day out for all 🌼

📅 27th June 2026
⏰ 10am – 4:30pm

Alongside our Breedon Open Gardens event on the 27th of June, we’ll also have a lovely selection of local crafters in the Parish Hall on the Green, together with the WI stall serving light refreshments.

The hall is also where you’ll find toilets and seating, so do feel free to stop by and take a break at any point during the day.

We’re delighted to be welcoming back a number of talented craft stalls this year, including local favourite ‘Handmade by Hazel’, who will once again be showcasing her bespoke handmade bags 💼 .

The Village Hall will be open throughout the day from 10am until 4.30pm — we look forward to seeing you there!

📸New for this year at Breedon Open Gardens!

We’re introducing our very own photo cut-out board on the village green and we’d love everyone to stop by, poke your head through for a photo and share on this page! Whether you’re visiting with friends, family, children or dogs — come and join in the fun and help us capture some wonderful memories from the day.

We had great fun over the weekend creating and decorating it. Barrie turned his hand to making the board for us, Vicky and Gail got busy with the paintbrushes, and Gail finished it off with beautiful handmade flower garlands. A real team effort! 🌿

So… calling all photographers, selfie lovers and happy snappers — don’t forget to tag us in your pictures. We can’t wait to see all your smiling faces enjoying the gardens! 🌺📷

🌿 Exciting news for Breedon Open Gardens!

We’re delighted that local plant enthusiast Carol from Cinder Hill Farm will be joining us this year.

A much-loved and highly respected local farmer, Carol will be bringing a beautiful selection of farm-produced plants and hanging baskets for sale from her stall in the stunning gardens of Breedon Hall.

This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up some advice, browse her gorgeous plants, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Breedon Hall — gardens that haven’t been open as part of this event for many years.

A real treat for garden lovers, and another lovely reason to join us on 27th June! 🌸🌱

A Hidden Gem: Discovering Garden One 🌿

We’re delighted to showcase some truly special outdoor spaces—and today, the spotlight falls on the wonderfully surprising Garden One. This garden began its transformation in 2016, evolving from what was once an overgrown, grass-dominated plot into something far more captivating. What inspired its opening to the public? Quite simply, pride and passion. Having poured immense effort into shaping a space that feels both unique and inviting.

“We’ve worked super hard to make our garden interesting,” our residents explain, “and we just love to share it.” First-time visitors are often greeted with an involuntary and emphatic “WOW! You wouldn't expect this garden to be here” —the kind of reaction that speaks volumes. Tucked away and unexpected, Garden One lives up to its self-description as “a surprising hidden garden,” delighting guests at every turn.

Being part of Open Gardens holds special meaning for this couple. Beyond opening their gates, they hope to inspire others. “It’s amazing to raise a little bit for charity along the way,” they say. Their approach to gardening? Refreshingly relaxed. “We like easy!” they admit. If a plant looks interesting, beautiful, and attracts wildlife, in it goes—no overthinking required. It’s a philosophy that has clearly paid off, resulting in a garden that feels vibrant, personal, and full of life.

And the best time to enjoy it? Anytime at all. For its creators, Garden One isn’t just a project—it’s their happy place. And for visitors lucky enough to step inside, it might just become a little slice of happiness too.

A little bit about The Pinfold Garden 🌿 which we recommend you visit.

Tucked away on Main Street next to the Roundhouse Lock Up, The Pinfold is a small but important part of Breedon’s history. Over 200 years ago, the lock-up was used to hold minor offenders overnight, while the pinfold next door was where stray livestock were kept until their owners paid a fine to the village “pinder” — rural justice at its finest!

Today, the Pinfold Garden belongs to the parish and is ultimately looked after by the Parish Council. Rod and Sue took over caring for it in 2021, partly because they are just across the road and partly because they enjoy gardening and cooking with herbs!

They have filled it with hardy perennial herbs that come back year after year — rosemary, thyme, sage, fennel, mint, bay, parsley, chives, marjoram, sorrel, St John’s Wort and lemon balm for tea.

It’s open for everyone to enjoy, and please do help yourself to herbs — we just ask that children are with an adult and everyone picks thoughtfully so there’s enough for all and the plants don’t need counselling. 🌱

It’s a lovely little village resource, a reminder of Breedon’s past . . . and a peaceful place to sit & reflect.

Huge thanks to the quarry for donating gravel when Rod refurbished the paths, and to Rod for rescuing the rather sorry-looking bench and giving it a new lease of life.
