Okay, so you may have seen the poster for Brecon Beacons Film Festival 2026 and thought: “What is this? I’ve never heard of it!”
Here goes, it’s our third year putting the film fest on at The Muse in Brecon. Fabulous venue, refreshments available, large screen (wall), great sound, comfortable seating.
It’s free entry, it’s fine to drop in and drop out, most people stay all day.
We show mainly short films that have mainly been made by post graduate filmmakers based in Wales - Nate Reeves, Thomasin Toohie, Jack Hyett, Elon Gwyn, Dylan Guard, Andrew Creak, Jacob Ethan Tanner, Finley Middleton, James Fisher, Alexander Williams, Yegor Chmilewsky, Charlie Grayson - never heard of them? Well, you might one day, just as you know Jodie Foster, Sofia Coppola and Peter Jackson. Or Spielberg or Hitchcock.
There were just over 100 entries and we’ll be screening 16. There will be interviews (Q&As) with six or seven filmmakers.
This is the cutting edge of young filmmaking.
There’s also a Q&A session with someone who’s gone mainstream. Tom Bullough wrote the screenplay for Mr Burton with Toby Jones - you may have watched it. He’s been writing 30 odd years. These breaks take time to come along.
So this is your chance to get in on the ground floor.
Please ask questions about the film fest! Go on.
