Yesterday we had the pleasure of sharing highlights and results from BAFA 2025 with the leadership team from Arts Council England North, led by Rebecca Ball, during their general staff retreat in Bradford.

It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the success of last year’s African Art Festival, celebrate the incredible work of our team, and highlight the impact of the programme.

We’re also grateful to Arts Council England for their continued support, which plays an important role in making initiatives like BAFA possible.

In the Words of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, we neither face east nor west, we face forward.

Today we celebrate the courage, freedom, and unity that make our nation strong. From our rich culture to our bright future, we honor the journey that began on March 6, 1957.

From a Proud Ghanaian and from all of us at BAFA, we are Proud of our heritage.

Happy Independence Day, Ghana!

When community comes together, culture becomes unstoppable. 🌍✨

BAFA exists because of people, the artists who share their gifts, the families who show up, the volunteers who give their time, and the partners who believe in the vision.

It is this shared love for African arts and culture that keeps the spirit alive and thriving. 🎶🎨

Together, we are stronger. Together, we create impact. Together, we celebrate heritage.

African festivals are more than celebrations 🎉

They are powerful spaces where children and young people discover who they are.

When young people see their culture celebrated on stage through music, dance, fashion, storytelling, and art. Confidence grows. Representation is not just important… it is transformative ✨

Festivals introduce the next generation to history and heritage that may not always be reflected in mainstream spaces. They create moments of pride. Moments of belonging. Moments that quietly say, “Your culture is valuable. Your voice matters.” 🌍

At Bradford African Festival of Arts (BAFA), we believe investing in culture is investing in the future.

We are not just hosting an event.
We are preserving heritage.
We are building confidence.
We are shaping the next generation. 🌿

Look out for BAFA 2026; something powerful is coming.

In many African cultures, sharing food is never just about eating, it is about unity, honour, and belonging. 🍲✨

Families and friends gather around one dish, hands reaching the centre, stories flowing, laughter filling the air. In that simple act, bonds are strengthened and the community comes alive. 🤝🏾

That same spirit of togetherness is what BAFA brings to Bradford. A space where culture is shared, connections are built, and everyone has a seat at the table. 🌍❤️

And guess what… something special is cooking. 👀🔥
Get ready for bigger moments, richer culture, and even more unforgettable experiences.

Get ready for BAFA 2026, it is going to be powerful. 🌍✨
